yes. i've never disliked anything they've done. i have "Peace" and "Greatest Hits" and all of Annie Lennox's. one of my sisters was a pretty big fan of theirs growing up. i'm not die hard, but definitely a fan. nod

I just finished listening to We Too Are One and Peace. Half the songs on Peace are changed from the original versions I know! Can anyone who has the remasters tell me if it is the same as the UK version? "I've Tried Everything" is the most different, transforming from a stark, plaintive ballad to a midtempo, summery song. They sound like remixes.

i've been making some compilations from the reissues... and this is the one I like best.

It's a compilation of strong non-single Album Tracks.. Really like the way it flows

1. Aqua
2. Do You Want To Break Up?
3. Take Your Pain Away
4. Anything But Strong
5. Cool Blue
6. All The Young (People of Today)
7. Precious
8. Conditioned Soul
9. Put The Blame On Me
10. Sylvia
11. Somebody Told Me
12. Wide-Eyed Girl
13. I've Tried Everything
14. See No Evil
15. A Little Of You
16. She's Invisible Now
17. Better to Have Lost in Love (than never to have loved at all)
18. I Remember You

Whattya think?

the box set is cheaper. at least, here in Holland it is.

if i buy the boxset it costs me € 99,90

so that's € 12,50 per album.

if i buy the albums individually, they're
gonna cost me € 15,90 each.

so the boxset saves you € 27,-

apart from that, i don't see much reason
to buy the boxset since it's only a box.
no special extra songs or anything that
are not on the individual remastered cds

i suggest buying all the albums though.
it is hard to advice one single album for
someone who is just getting into them imo
because i can only recommend them all as
they all have great songs and astounding
moments of music on them.

Hey Istenszek - sorry, somehow I missed this yesterday. hug

Thanks for the advice!

Just one other thing: do you get the same artwork, etc., in the boxset that you'd get with the albums? I'd really like to buy them all individually but I don't think I could afford it this late in the month. I've seern the box-set,though, and it was cheaper. nod

i'm not sure about the artwork, since i've only had a close look
at the individual remasters and haven't had the chance to look at
the box yet.

i'm short on cash too but i'm going to try to pull some cash from
other sources (gasoline etc) to see if i can scrape enough together
to buy it for christmas! that would be the perfect gift for myself

oh my god... i don't know if this has already been mentioned, but the version of "I've Tried Everything" on the remastered "Peace" is TOTALLY different than the original. Completely different version.

And I like it better! The mid-tempo approach totally suits the song better, and gives the album a little more life. It should have been a single.

I have connected w/ Peace much more this time around than when it was originally released.

so far the only one i've really compared with the old and new versions back to back is I've Tried Everything. They are completely different. I think there are some other slight differences on the remastered "Peace", but I *believe* "I've Tried Everything" is the only one completely different. But i'm still absorbing it and it's been a long time since i've listened to Peace, so i'm not 100% sure.

I mentioned above that about half of the tracks seem altered. "Peace Is Just a Word" has an extended outro and Annie singing an extra background melody at the end. "My True Love" has some different instrumentation. "Forever" has a horn section (kinda) in the beginning. "Lifted" has that bouncy little synth line interejected in more places.

I actually prefer the old version of "I've Tried Everything"- it sounded sincere and pleading. This summery new version seems to be contrasting the vocals! I like to think of it as a remix, though.

I just think of "Peace" as a continuation of what she was exploring as a solo artist, and I think Dave facilitated that. She was heading in that direction already with "We Too Are One", so it's not surprising they would make that kind of album. Taken on those terms, it's quite enjoyable I think.

I agree, and yet it does have a different feel than any of the Annie solo albums. It does have a bit more "Revenge" than "Diva" - only updated. Or, maybe a mix of "Revenge" and "Diva". Annie solo certainly wouldn't have done a track like Power to the Meek or I Want it All. There are some tracks though, like "Lifted", that could fit right onto Bare.

But although it will never be my favorite album, I think if one album benefited the most (at least in my perception) from these reissues, it would be "Peace."

and i still think 17 Again is one of their great singles. smile
