one love!
i know some Micheal Jacson fans that are very rabbid, but still want 2 forget that one crappy album. what was it ? oh yeah. blood on the dancefloor. what did that sell 50,000 copies ? most people have never even heard of it. please don't get me twisted. i love mike and all, but after bad, maybe His-story, his sales began 2 blow. and that was waaaaay back in '92? over a decade ago, none the less. and i'm also sad 2 say his moves ain't as crisp as they used 2 be. not takin sides, just stating facts. peace, James Aaron the 1st
----- Murph says: I think this is where a lot of the people in this debate get it twisted...MJ's sales only became a concern with the critics when he started to bill himself as the KING Of Pop...He's was obsessed with keeping up with the unimaginable sales of Thriller...Let's be real here... Here is a man that sold well over 10 to 20 million albums each release with Bad, Dangerous, and even History...How is it a music icon that has sold a shit load of albums be deemed a commercial failure? Well, the answer is simple...His obsessions got the best of him...I think that's the reason his music became so stale, plastic and predictable over the years... When you label yourself The King Of Pop, you are going to be treated and looked at as a commodity...This is how people can get away with shitting on Jackson for only selling 8 million albums worldwide when there are artists from his era that struggle to go platinum...The man only brought it on himself... When Dangerous came out, radio dj's and MTV had 2 call
MJ the King of Pop whenever they announced one off his songs!! Or they didn't get the premiere or promo singles! Maybe MJ deserved that title but he couldn't wait! I don't remember Elvis claiming his title, media and fans started calling him the king! Many peolpe really thought this ridicalous! Madonna is the queen of pop,but she never started calling HERSelf that way. How arrogant can someone be! Now,if Bruce Springsteen would be called king of rock,by the fans & media, that would be ok.He did much more than just POP. By the way, releasing 5! albums in 20 years? Love4oneanother | |

Now,if Bruce Springsteen would be called king of rock,by the fans & media, that would be ok. The thing is Madoona has a nickname - she is The Material Girl. Springsteen has a nickname - he is The Boss. But poor MJ had no nickname - here he is the biggest selling popstar in the world & no nickname. Can you blame him for working the King of Pop title? Is it really that big a deal that he had to make up his own nickname? Does it really do anything to discredit his music? Or do you just like poking at MJ whenever you get the chance? | |

No,because I like his music,More than U think. But someone doesn't make up a title 4 himself, let the people be the judge! Prince didn't call himself the genius. Love4oneanother | |

What do you expect, he wanted some recognition. Think about it the media will never give him the title he had to do it himself one way or another. He earned it ages ago, personaly i really dont like the king of pop title to me he was more then that. The name Michael Jackson alone speaks for itself. Look at the other artists today, they think their the bomb or something. He barely comes across as arrogant, more humble then anything. You dont see MJ acting like his too good for everyone else. Yeah his got a big ego, well it was about time all the shit was gona go in his head with everyone licking his ass left and right. Its quality not about quantity, his only released a few albums and look how much it has sold already, thats another reason why his a genuis. Thats why his titled KOP, but now he always has to live up to his own expectations and if he doesnt deliever people will give him a hard time. He released a remix album and that becomes the most selling remix album. His accomplished so much through out his career but everyone seems to down play it. Today most artists would die even to sell how much Invincible did, but to media it was a flop, i bet Mike see it as a failure. To me that album barely had any of his soul put into it. Songs like Privacy and 2000watts was a load of crap. Cry, the lost children - gag. Other then some other good songs, Whatever Happens was the only genuis that came through in this album and is one of Mikes best work his ever done. Too bad it was barely noticed. He didnt even want to be in the shoot for the cry video because all the shit that was going on with sony trying to sabotage, why else do you think mottola was fired. Like someone said if were talking about other artists 1 or 2 good songs on a album is already called a hit, but no MJ has to have every single song to be good on an album to be called a hit. Guess what ill say this Michael Jackson is a living KING. Everyone knows deep down, you can discredit all you want. Not one person in this thread even denied it once. McCartney has had more hit singles. Combine The Beatles singles with McCartneys singles & no one comes close. His influence is much greater on pop music & has covered a larger period of time. The Beatles had hits before MJ even was in a recording studio. The Beatles were a large part of the social upheavel in the 60's. McCartneys music is covered by more artists. McCartneys Yesterday is the most covered song in pop history. MJ is a huge pop star but he is not The Pop Star unless that title is based on one monster selling album. Hello - this is me is a previous post denying that MJ is the King of Pop. Paul McCartney blows MJ out of the park. | |

Lets face it MJ is jealous of McCartney.
Thats why he stole the Beatles songbook because he hates McCartney so much. He knows McCartney stands in his way of being the greatest pop star ever & he will do anything to undermine him. But what can he do - McCartney is a better songwriter & better vocalist. MJ is always going to be #2. | |

McCartney has had more hit singles. Combine The Beatles singles with McCartneys singles & no one comes close. You're right. Paul Mc Cartney is the greatest POP hit maker ever, while MJ comes second. But MJ whips his ass on the Dance, Disco, and R&B charts. His influence is much greater on pop music
& has covered a larger period of time. Michael is way more influential than Paul. Ask to play a paul song on a club. Ask a B-Boy to dance on a Paul song. Ask an African, a middle-east guy, a South American to sing a Paul song. Ask the hip hop community if Paul is influential. Bob Marley, James, Marvin and Stevie are also more influential. The Beatles were a large part of the social upheavel in the 60's.
That's Bullshit. The Beatles were a teenage phenomenon that turned into a groundbreaking musical act. that's it! MJ is a huge pop star but he is not The Pop Star
unless that title is based on one monster selling album. Michael is the biggest crossover pop/dance/disco/soul/funk/r&b megastar ever. He's the most famous person on earth, the most awarded artist ever, the biggest solo touring attraction ever, the biggest video star and best selling artist of all time. [img] | |

Prove it. This is a typical statement from a MJ lover - "He is the most blah blah blah." So prove it.Show me documentation that shows MJ is the most famous person on earth. You made a statement now show me evidence. Not your opinion. Proof. Solid proof to back up your claims. Show me the opinion polls & the surveys that back up this claim. Not Liz Taylor making a toast. Not the title of an Entertainment Weekly article. I'm not saying he isn't but I don't fling it around as a fact. You must have seen evidence to back this up so share it. What is your source for this info.? | |

Fine. MJ can be The King of Disco. & The King of Dance & The King of R&B | |
