It's lind of poppy - like Pretty Hate Machine, but the songs aren;t as good. The angsty thing if wearing a bit thin though. What's he got to be angry about? The Man isn;t holding him downn anymore - he produces his own music, takes 7 years to make an album, has millions of dollars and a beautiful wife... it's because of the angry thing that it seems a bit fake, unlike his earlier recordings. It's average. You'll hear it after a few listens.

Ive been a huge Nine Inch Nails fan for years. Trent's an absolute genius. All of the albums are good, though The Fragile is my least favorite(too much of a downer). I prefer Pretty Hate Machine or The Downward Spiral.

As for With Teeth, it had to grow on me, but now I really like it. It's actually a good, solid album without any kooky concept behind it. It's basically a kinda harder Pretty Hate Machine as far as accessibility goes. After the lukewarm reception to The Fragile, Trent realized that it might not be wise to release something complicated after a six year gap.

I never really got into them until I saw him do the Hurricaine Relief concert. Then I got this new album and just the sound of the album and the way he turns his piano into a new-wavish rock instrument is great to listen to. To me, he sings with a lot of feeling and why shouldn't he be angry still? I mean, I'm sure he has fewer moments but listening to this record, he still has a few.

This CD was probably the most disappointing thing I bought this year. I thought the Fragile was overlong, but it still had enough songs to make me sit up and take notice. With-a Teeth-a just seems like Trent gave up on writing actual melodies and songs. I really thought that after The Fragile and Still, Trent would've evolved a little more, but instead, I think he regressed. His lyrics and singing especially have never been this poor before.

I just found it to be kind of silly to have a man of his age
still talk exactly like he did 15 years ago. He's suffering
from the same syndrom as Billy Corgan. Grown middle aged men
who can't stop the fucking bawling already and make up their
minds on something good to sing about and something utterly
fucked up to complain about instead of all this teenage yuk
about hating yourself and not being good enough and secretly
dreaming yourself a 19th century english poet

rolleyes

But beyond that, it's a very cool album
