Jamie Lidell and Super Collider I've recently had the good luck to discover the music of Jamie Lidell. It started with his music site on MySpace, which lead me to buy his album "Multiply". This album is easily my favorite album to come out in years, and it's not only the great songs that stand out but his voice. He sounds like Sly Stone, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, and others, but not all at the same time. You catch glimpses of his influences at times, which of course reminds me of Prince.
After wanting to hear more, I bought two albums by his former group Super Collider. I wasn't sure what to expect from them, just that it was electronic music. I'm happy to say that Super Collider is easily the funkiest electronic group I've heard. Imagine Trent Reznor making music for Prince to sing over and you're pretty close. Before posting this I tried searching for mention of Jamie Lidell here, and of course it gave me the "this area is closed" message. I'm sure I saw his name mentioned here first, and hopefully someone will update me as to how he was mentioned. For those who get into his stuff like I have, Jamie is performing in SF in early October at the Independent. I already got my tickets. I'm adding his tracks to my online radio station, as I've been jamming to it non stop. Truly amazing music.

I managed to get the Super Collider album on the strength of the single, "It won't be long" as it sounds kinda like "Bob George". "Head On" is still a favourite album and as for Jamie Lidell, I'm on the verge of buying it nearly every week, but other releases keep getting in the way- but it will be my next purchase as I keep hearing only good things. i got the jamie lidell CD for my birthday and i haven't listened to it a lot, but the couple of times i gave it a spin, it kinda sounded like a marriage of funk and goth to me. i liked it, i just haven't had the time to absorb it.
