EURYTHMICS REISSUES - 11/8/05!!!!!!!!!

FROM ethrill.net:

EURYTHMICS' REMASTERED CHRISTMAS
The return of the great eight

Hohoho, two new songs on the Ultimate Collection, but wasn't there something else on your wishlist for christmas? You might remember the petition pushed, often delayed Eurythmics remastered albums of which a set of promos already appeared on ebay last year (which was removed quickly of course, too).

Finally on November 8, 2005, the day of the Ultimate Collection, it's gonna happen: all eight former BMG albums are going to be re-released in remastered and extended editions with bonus tracks (see ethrill.net discography), sold seperately and together in box sets. These news have been confirmed by Dave Stewart.

After another year and a new deal with SonyBMG it is coming true! Merry christmas everybody!

I see all the discs close off with a song from
their "secret" album. Is that correct?

that would be amazing, to be able to compile
that "secret" album from the remasters.

yay!

and what a great way to get people to buy them
all heheh. clever.

I know I won't believe it until I can feel the plastic. biggrin

I am just having trouble deciding which to get first. Probably Savage, Sweet Dreams, Touch and Revenge.

you'll find that opinions on eurythmics albums vary wildly from person to person...speaking for myself only, 'savage' and '1984' are among their best.

I actually have been waiting for these remasters to come out before I start collecting their shit.

"Jennifer" is my shit, ever since I watched that Sweet Dreams movie (live footage plus animation and videoclips).

They are all worth owning, but I would suggest starting with Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), Touch and Be Yourself Tonight and going from there.

Don't know. The ethrill website doesn't include any tracklists other than the old ones and doesn't specify whether or not they have changed.

I'm not gonna get excited until I know. I've been anticipating these all along, but am disappointed with those old tracklists.

I'll be able to handle the old tracklists if a box set is issued as well with all of the rarities we know and love. Then I can make my own discs.

True. But I have a suspicion that D & A are caving in. There was supposed to be a multi disc Anthology, better remasters and a rarities box set. I think they just quickly threw together a new Best Of and will put out those lackluster remasters.

It is hard to pick the "best" even out of 8...but here's my rundown...

In the Garden - Mostly for Fans. FIrst Album and it's a bit wierd and experimental. I'd get this only if you know the music and like it.

Sweet Dreams/Touch - Can't really go wrong with either. Several singles are on each and most of the rest is NOT filler.

Be Yourself/Revenge - The Rock Albums - If you like their "rockier" sound ala WOuld I lie to you and Missionary Man, you will like thse. I find Revenge to be a stronger offering as a whole.

Savage - Apparently an under rated album and definitely a fan favorit. It is a return to their roots and fids them back at the keyboards. It's also their "concept album". Many different textures and the songs go a little beyond the traditional "pop song style". This is my favorite album.

We two are one - The "break up" album. Also marked their only album on Arista. The songs are very "poppy" and a little more geared towards the fans that are now older. It has strong songs on it.

Peace - The "reunion album" Get it only if you are a true fan. It was...ok. More rockier/guitar oriented.

Shame 1984 is not getting reissued.

Incomplete as those old remasters are, they still contain top notch material. I can only hope other gems like "Step on the Beast" and "Invisible Hands" are given the same treatment.

Also, Free "Charlie Cat"!

Yeah after a year and such of it being on hold...i would imagine they want to get them out sooner than later.

I agree with your recommendations except for this one. I think it trumps anything they did post-1984.

It's nice, but it's totally Annie solo in Eury drag.

And, for the most part, I'll take Annie solo over second-half Eury (although second-half Eury is also great).
