Blue Eyed Soul Jam for tonight.. "If You Were There" Wham! 
Fuck all them other track on there..the JAM is "If You Were There" Originally sung by the Isley Brothers (Don't know if it was a minor hit or not), George Michael sings this song with pop and soul satisfactory. My brother also loves this song. If it wasnt for this track I don't think I wouldve bought the album. It goes perfect right after "Freedom" too. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

It is the reawakening of Wham! And now that Andrew Ridgeley looks like he is going to be a regular poster, it is only a matter of time before the site become Wham!.Org. Now, I must continue my work on the Hanson comeback... All good things they say never last... | |

You know, it's a shame,
I'm a huge Isley Brothers fan from way back in the day, and IMO, believe it or not, I have to say that Wham does a better job on this tune than the Isleys did!!!!--I Know that sounds sacrilegious, but I never liked the Isley's version(From the otherwise great album, 3+3). In fact it's the only song I don't like on that Isleys' album...the original 1973 track has some goofy(to me, anyway )galloping percussion, and it's almost like a throwaway track, but the Wham arrangement actually treats it like a classic R&B tune, with some nice hollow-bodied Jazz guitar thrown in for good measure! If the Isleys had done it this way it, I think it would've been a huge hit for them... ... I know & like the Isley's (original) version; Ronald's voice is as smooth as ever..
I have not yet heard the Wham! version, but when I saw this song listed on their cd it seemed like a song PERFECT for them to do, it seems like a song George could do well.. for those of you who've heard both versions & think the Wham! version is better, why?? I'll see you tonight..

The Isley Brothers version is more subdued and bored sounding. Wham really made this track a R&B Pop craftmaship. And George hits his high vocals the best he's ever had on the track. I really don't think that anybody could ever top the Isleys on one of their own songs. And I think in most cases it would be really hard to top the Isleys versions of someone else's song.
