DON'T YOU HATE IT... When you hear a song in a shop or something that you absolutely love at first hearing but can't for the life of you find out what its called or who the artist is!

That's been burning me up for years, especially now that a lot of businesses use digital music and satellite stations--no titles or artists are ever mentioned, and of course the people working there have no idea what the music is or where to find out about it.....

What I do is listen very very closely to the lyrics and later Google them within quotations.

I have that when I write songs, if I don't record immedaitely, there is a possibility I forget the melody. It SO sucks, waking up with the knowledge that I had this great tune in my head the night before, but forgot it totally.

I remember hearing the most amazing ambient/trip hoppy tune in The Gap once. I stuck around the wretched store just to listen to it. I ended up asking a sales clerk who it was and she went in the back to look it up. After ten minutes she returned to tell me it was some unlabeled compilation that the company makes for them to play instore. So I never found out who it was but the song haunted me for like a week. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Last one is called Imaginary Girlfriend. Props to the one who knows where the title was nicked from. Without Googling, that is.

That's really tough when it's an ambient instrumental track. Ya can't google it if there's no lyrics! I doubt the Gap clerk was lying to you though in that instance, but those compilations are usually labelled.
