I hope he learns saxophone better than he "learned" guitar.

Whatever. Since when did guitar playing become a sport with measurments and awards?

He isnt gonna be a Prince at anything.. so dont expect that.
In fact, I expect him to be mediocre at the whole scene.. but that isnt a bad thing.. what he does, he can get by with a few more records.. I mean, he did it on the Love Below.. he is a quirky guy, his musicianship doesnt have to flow like poetry.. expect a polished but simplistic music from him.. Its a good simplicity too. I expect great things from him. . [Edited 8/8/05 17:23pm]

I respect the fact that somebody in his genre is interested in playing let alone using real instruments in his music. Props to 'Dre!

DaX said: VoicesCarry said: As usual, BK, you are speaking the truth. For simps. Hey fanboy, your idol sucks on guitar. That solo he did at the awards show last year was shameful. Coming onstage in a national forum presenting yourself as a nationally known, no INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN artist and playing like a junior high school guitar student should be embarrassing. I like Andre 3000, but if you're gonna hit the stage, do it right or not at all. That's the problem with the music generation of now; suckas can't play worth a damn and them try to rationalize themselvs into greatness. "What is good playing anyway?" and shit like that. Well, it ain't Andre. On the flipside, he's pretty damn tight with that MPC3000. [Edited 8/8/05 22:16pm]

i read a couple of interviews where he was talking about learning different instruments, saxophone being one of them. He also talked about learning composition at Juliard. i wasn't sure if he was already enrolled or had intentions on enrolling. Anyways, some of my favorite players were self taught. For me it's all in how you manipulate the notes, i don't need a lot of flash, just a lil bit of soul and attitude, which my man Andre has plenty of.

I like that he wants to learn BUT when he's performing he needs to hire professional musicians... i.e., muufuckas that can play w/o looking @ their fingers

Whatever. Since when did guitar playing become a sport with measurments and awards? That's besides the point because Andre's guitar playing is still redundant due to its shitness ..... BULLSEYE!

what?? he played the guitar and looked at his fingers??? What performance was this?? It's a metaphor for amateurs. I don't know if he looked @ his fingers or not but he's not good enough to play @ a show just yet...

Just because I suggested that he practice his instruments doesn't mean I don't like his work; nor does it mean that anyone else doesn't, either. I'd just like to see him rep himself better if he's gonna play. Part of the problem with today's generation is that they expect (and often get) accolades for just trying. That's not good enough. Strive for greatness and even if you fall short, you still end up good. Striving for mediocre is pointless. He doesn't have to be great, just at least be professional. A well executed 4 note solo is better than a sloppy 120 note one. Its REALLY embarrassing when you mess up in your own song due to lack of skillz.

Dig, I think Andre is cool as well, but, a big part of being a true musician is putting in the time. Woodshedding. Please don't take your ass out on a stage and try to pull off some shit u were practising while looking at yourself in the mirror. "Do I look cool, dog?" Be more concerned with how u sound, and if u can play or not. Got to put in the time before u can shine! SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
