i wouldn't wear a fishbone shirt, even though i love their "truth & soul" album, just because they got so homophobic.

if a shirt has a cool design i'd wear it. who cares if i know the band or not. who cares why i'm wearing it at all, be it for trendy reasons or otherwise. personally, it makes no difference to me what other people wear or why they wear it. shrug

so i could give you a t-shirt that has the logo for the band "the mentors" and if you didn't know who they were, you'd just go ahead and wear it if you thought it had a nice design?

see, my whole thing is, when i wear something, i feel like i represent approval of whatever it is i'm wearing. that's why i won't wear logo gear or t-shirts advertising products, unless it's a product i really truly believe in. i won't wear a t-shirt that says "calvin klein", because frankly, if i'm going to advertise for ck, at the very least i wanna get paid for it. my body's sacred ground, after all. lol

i wouldn't wanna wear a t-shirt of an artist or film or whatever that i don't like, or worse yet, don't know much about, because i'm presenting myself as supporting or promoting something that could potentially be against my beliefs or sensibilities. i'm very principled that way - or at least i try to be.

as long as the shirt didn't offend me, i'd wear anything anyone gave me. i'm a pretty darned fashion-minded person and i think i can make just about anything "work." i have a ton of shirts from thift shops that have logos that i know nothing about. if the shirt looks cool, i'll wear it.

after an ill-advised trip downtown last weekend, i'm discovering new levels of minimalism in my life until payday comes.

never go shopping after watching a warhol documentary. don't do it.

Skrewdriver is a fairly well-known Neo Nazi punk group. I hope you don't come across any of their shirts in your thrift shops.

My T-Shirts aren't all that cool to wear. I have:

MJ: Beat It, Bad tour, Heal The World, personalised Bad era one

Prince: One Night Alone tour, the old one from DJTees.com

Lenny Kravitz: DJTees.com design, Baptism tour

Madonna: Like A Virgin album cover, 2 DWT

Duran Duran: DJTees.com design

Kylie Minogue: Fever tour

Terence Trent D'Arby: Introducing The Hardline era

Stevie Wonder: 2 different colours from DJTees.com

Bill Hicks: not technically music but the one from DJTees.com - best T-Shirt website ever!

Perhaps only if I'm smitten with the design, and if I don't know or like the band, I make sure nobody else does.
I'd still get indiepoints...

i just made a t-shirt that has a transfer of warhol's silkscreen portrait of prince. i also made a t-shirt with a marcel dzama picture on it, and another t-shirt with a picture of david bowie in the "life on mars" video. they look pretty darn good, if i say so myself.

if ya can't find shirts you like, just make some your damn self. biggrin

those are fun! i haven't played with one of those since high school. of course, it was one of those where ya had to cut the design on a piece of film with an x-acto knife...i'm sure you guys have something spiffier.

i'm digging the transfer printer paper thing right now - i just bought some tracing paper and i want to make some trace collages that i can scan into t-shirt designs. of WHAT i don't know just yet, but i'm having fun with the idea...
