Of course thesexofit will be the major beneficiary. Should I really do this? I'm not usually one to make fun.

But instead of actually sending money or music, ask people to recommend a really great album they're digging at the moment. [Edited 8/3/05 16:01pm]

[Edited 8/3/05 7:16am] I've been trying to track this down forever. You know, a local video store had a copy for rent (!). It was pretty worn, but still watchable. I really liked the Union City Blue sequence, which was shot at a harborfront. [Edited 8/3/05 17:32pm]

Eat to the Beat is probably the best Blondie album, so I'd love to see the whole thing. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! In the '70s, Cher did a TV special for the "take me home" album where she's walking through an old house and in every room she walks into, it turns into a video for each song on the album. I remember very clearly watching this when i was a kid. Donna Summer did the same thing when she put out "On the Radio" - I totally remember the video for "Sunset People", because she played a bag lady in it. And Olivia did it with the "Physical" album - I remember begging my mom to let me stay up late to watch it. I dunno if these little gems ever made it to home video, but I'm sure that somewhere in their fan communities you'd be able to find a copy that someone taped that's in circulation. I'd love to see those shows again. I know what you're talking about....not atypical music videos but I think both were specials. I know the 1980 Donna Summer special was probably in promotion of "On the Radio" (if not just in promoition of herself in general) but I didn't know she did all the songs from there. In fact, I know the one clip from the show I've seen has her singing part of "Fairy Tale High", not featured on OTR. I've also seen a clip from the Cher special but never really heard anything about it. I guess it depends on your defintion of a music video and a performance. Donna's music videos really started with "The Wanderer" from 1980, I would say.

Yeah, much of it was filmed in a studio. The video for "Sunset People" featured Donna playing herself and a cab driver. The video for "Bad Girls" showed Donna getting arrested for prostitution. She asks the cop "Are you taking me to the jailhouse?" and he replies "No...I'm taking you to MY house"....lol...the videos were silly and cheesy. But there were also some live performances too that were taped exclusively for this special.Donna opens the show singing "Dim All The Lights".Here's a pic from the "Bad Girls" video...
