Yes, repeatedly. It's pretty confrontational and direct. Not what I equate with writing children's books and sponsoring spirituality for kids. It didn't bore me, if that's what you're suggesting. But I know a lot of folks were disappointed with it. Like I've been with Janet lately.

But I know a lot of folks were disappointed with it. Like I've been with Janet lately. You fammin' wildly on Madonna lately. I like American Life, I just think a few tracks are among the worst she's ever recorded. I like the following: Hollywood (it's OK) Love Profusion (pretty) Nobody Knows Me (sounds like a Music leftover, tho) Nothing Fails (great return to the elements that made Like A Prayer great) Intervention X-Static Process Mother And Father Easy Ride But anyway, the album doesn't feel like a Madonna album. It wasn't edgy enough for me, which is what I mean by her image creeping in on her work. This kind of faceless strummy acoustic trash isn't really distinctive (thanks, Mirwais!) in any way, even if it is pleasant. And the electro productions are the worst things on the record.

I don't think so. There's plenty about her I don't like. I don't even listen to her on a regular basis, just usually when her albums are out. But I happened to like "American Life". Looks like you enjoyed about 3/4 of it too. I rarely even get involved in Madonna or Janet discussions anymore, just cuz it's all been said. But these vs. are too good to resist. I was on board with Janet up through "All For You" (I think I'm in the minority there). But "Damita Jo" was just a complete turn-off to me. Were you pleased with it?

Most of the production on American Life was the sonic equivalent of plain oatmeal for me, so that was a bit of a turnoff. I liked the production on Damita Jo, so it helped to cover up the lyrical inadequacies (which were highlighted on American Life). I liked: Sexhibition (a jam, for sure) Strawberry Bounce Spending Time With You Island Life All Nite (Don't Stop) R&B Junkie I Want You Like You Don't Love Me Thinkin' Bout My Ex Moist SloLove Just A Little While

I just felt like the whole thing reeked of medicority, either in style, substance or just plain quality. It seems like these flop albums by Mad and Jan have really polarized fans of both. I've yet to see someone who genuinely likes both albums.

Madonna's Debut Madonna (1983) Janet Jackson's First Hit Control (1986) I'd have to go with Janet Jackson's "Control". It wasn't her first hit though, it was just her first pop hit. Andy is a four letter word.

I have to go with Control although I think Madonna's debut is one of her best CD's.

Its funny how u still hear "what have you done for me lately" alot on radio. But it sounds just as daed as paula, kayrn, pebbles et all.
"1814" is so much more consistant then "control". Plus it has more uptempo's, with janet biting madonna on "escapade". Jam and lewis were at the top of their game between 1988-1994. johnny gill New edition ralph tresvant Ha, all ne related Jam and lewis seem to save their best work for NE. And not for janet. As janet at least writes the lyrics.

***** please..
Without 'Madonna' no 'Control'. It's as simple as that. I love the production on Madonna very basic & bare..It's fooking great...stuff like Physical attraction & everybody is just the shit.. But I like control since there's no ridiculous interludes or essays on her clit..& those annoying giggles ¨*moans* *mentions coochie* edit!
