Probably be as bad as (or worse than) Joan Jett doing it (and I love her).

Worse, with Adam Levine's scratchy-ass, wimpy vocals.

So it looks like Janet is going to go remake some of the hits she's sampled and had hit songs with? Not her best between albums idea but better than the R&B cameos she usually does. Could be interesting and worth listening to. I would rather she did a dance vocal with some big DJ and had a club hit...after hearing "Damita Jo", you can just tell that dance music is where she seems comfortable (well, at least sounds comfortable).

As VC pointed out in his post, Love City - w/ Moby could be the biggest travesty in this group.

The whole project should be branded with the following tagline:

Latte-sipping yuppies were never able to get into Sly until now. Buy this album, display it on your coffee table.

Better than another reggae-song-between-albums track.

Janet: NO MORE REGGAE COLLABOS.

"Feel It Boy" ill "Luv Me Luv Me" ill ANDS (Remix w/Elephant Man) ill

Awww, "Luv Me Luv Me" wasn't that bad. This coming from a die-hard Shaggy hater, also.

Well, I was never to fond of Shaggy to begin with. I remember his golden ticket moment with "It Wasn't Me" -- he was the toast of the industry during that time. Fell off hard as h*ll afterwards.

I liked those songs, although Janet's contribution of just a chorus wasn't enough to make them great Janet tracks (haven't heard the ANDS remix though). I wonder if the flack Janet got for collobrating with anti-gay artists (not sure about Shaggy) might have contributed to her sales decline as well? Two words: Donna Summer.

To my eternal shame, before this was released in the UK, a mate and I made this our 'holiday song' a few years back. Too many drunken nights in a foreign club - with this as the only English language one they played; everytime they played this we were, like, 'Yay!'. boxed Christ, I must've been drunk.

Fast forward two weeks later when we landed on British soil and heard it for the first time properly > dead

I think you're right but had it been blown up as it was in the case of Donna, I think Janet's career would have serious issues. I think a big part of Donna's downfall were those rumours (although granted her material was getting weaker as well, but she hit hard and even the dance charts weren't to kind to her for a while up until about the mid to late ninties).

It helped that:

a) Unlike Donna, Janet wasn't accused of making anti-gay comments.

b) No one really gave a shit about Beenie Man or Elephant Man lol

Well, the "diving ruling" controversy was directly attributed to Donna. It purportedly came out of her own mouth. The criticisms encircling certain homophobic reggae artists are indirect and don't affect Janet.
