Even in her late 30's, she still looks like a pretty black "girl" to me. As for the weight gain (which most of us life long supporters know always happens between albums), it doesn't offend me at all. It just takes Janet back to the Janet of TV fame years for me; when she's meatier her face reminds me more of the "Charlene/Diffrent Strokes/FAME era", and she even more resembles her child face as "Penny" from Good Times.

The worked out Super-Ab thing she goes through when she's doing her press and touring doesn't bother me either. I just kind of look up, see her in the press, say HOT DAMN (!), and get inspired to go work out my damned self!

In any case, I know what it's like to have your weight fluctuate: happens to me all the time now that I'm over 30, and no longer naturally a toothpick. Also, because I'm in the fashion industry, I can honestly say in all fairness to Janet that the camera REALLY does add 10+ lbs. to your frame in photographs or on film, so in reality she wouldn't be as meaty as she looks in these photos. I know she's not very tall, so I'm going to make a guess that she can't be more than a 5/6 minimum, 7/8 maximum. It's kind of cruel to refer to a (nearly 40 year old) woman pushing a size 7/8 as a cow...especially when they're kind of on "down time", living life outside of the Hollywood celluloid machine...
