QUESTION: Do ya'll think MARIAH is more talented than MADONNA...

....just because Mariah has a 5 octave voice & Madonna doesn't?

honestly who's to say who has more talent than the other. but if Mariah has more "up her sleeve", we've yet to see it. IMO she also lacks depth in most her work. i love Mariah, but i think we can always predict what we'll will get with each album release. shrug

Madonna of course.

Even a non fan like me knows madonna bascially did alot more then make music. As cliche as it sounds, she inspired millions of little girls and even teenage ones.

She was the bette davis of the music industry. So a damn good role model then. Madonna proberly doesn't even see herself as talented, but I give big props for that alone.

Mariah is cool. She can co write and produce good. So can many others. Few can do as much as madonna has done. And madonna didn't even look like she was trying to inspire millions, which is great.

Mariah is a great singer but let's get real, Madonna is LEGENDARY! She's a classy, sexually BOLD in a world dominated by men, intellegent , sophisticated business woman and my mother lioness. That bitch roar's like no other! talk to the hand
t you to frogive me. or even believe me. But I am truly sorry. What I said was out of character for me. Even if this is "just the internet"

Mariah is way more talented. However, Madonna is a better business woman. Classy? lol No. She was and still sometimes is raunchy as hell.

Its deliberate. Any thread comparing 2 artists with little writing on the original response will cause the more casuel orger to buzz in. It leaves it very open.

This argument will be really fruitless, so I'm not going to bother.
But Madonna is a POP artist therefore she changes her sound as the pop landscape changes, Mariah is mostly a soul/r&b artis so she focuses on that style. Who is more talented? what r u basing it on? vocal talent? songwriting? success?

Yeeeeeah, I mean, Mimi's better than averaqe for Mariah's career, but there's no way in hell people are going to remember the individual albums 20 years from now. People aren't going to remember the phases of her career, other than maybe pre and post flip-out.

Madonna was as important to pop culture as Prince, Elvis and James Brown. She's an innovator, whether or not you like her thin voice and candy-coated hooks. Mariah will be better remembered than, say, Olivia Newtown John, but she's done nothing to really distinguish herself from the hordes of other divas. She'll have a terrific best-of.

Fashion and popular culture impact has nothing to do with musical talent, Spice Girls are bigger pop culture icons than Mariah, the question was about talent

But, what makes her more talented? Just because Mariah can squeal like the dolphins? Take away that voice, can she dance & have the ability to pull off some of the great Madonna performances. Madonna plays the guitars & drums had been since 78 & has been playing the piano since she was young. Can Mariah write any songs with depth or creativity like Madonna has? Madonna is the better actress & has a Golden Globe to show for it. I just think there's more to having talent than having only the ability to sing well. What else does Mariah have over Madonna than just singing? LMAO. That's the only thing? She may be able to sing a good ballad, Madonna can to & "Take A Bow" is one of her biggest singles.

I love both ladies and have since the beginning of their careers. They're both talented and completely different artists so for me there's no reasonable comparison. At the end of the day it usually just comes down to a person likes more anyway.

Lauryn Hill was never a tremendous live performer - people seem to forget that when they cite that little fact.

Of course Mariah would win.

There's more to being a talented artist than having an arguably great voice. Madonna is a multi-facated artist & way more talented than Mariah on different levels. Like I said, take Mariah out of the vocal catergory & put her in dance, or performing, or writing, or acting, or producing. She ain't all that copared to many others who dont have the techinical vocal skills she has.

Can Madonna sing better than Mariah?

NO!!!!!

That takes talent, being a glorified dilettante takes ambition.

take a way the attitude and Madonna would never be a star..never

Mariah, who has the personality of smurf, still has the chops to at least win a talent competition.

This is another attempt to validate Madonna’s talent. She’s a dancer(professional training lol ), musician, singer, composer, writer…….

Isn’t enough that her fans think she’s talented, why must u try to convince haters that she has talent. who cares, as you long as you like the songs, nothing else matters…
