Whatever happened to Jesse Camp?

Do you remember him? He was a VJ on MTV in the late 90's. He was one of the most popular ones they've ever had. He kind of looked like a rock n' roll scare crow. He was tall and skinny but very cute. He came out with a record during the height of his fame but it didn't do well and then he left MTV.

Whatever became of him?

From what I saw on VH-1 a while back, he's trying to get another music career going. Supposedly that "homeless rocker" look is a act. Jesse (from what I saw on VH-1) is from a "well to do - wealthy" family. I met him a couple of times and he seemed "OK", but he wasn't anything like that "character". When his fans found out he was doing a "Vanilla Ice" with the image, his popularity dropped.

I also heard that he came from a well to do background. So does he still look the same? He's the only VJ that's ever come close to having a career outside of hosting videos. He was huge when he was on the show. Doing interviews and even being on the front cover of Rollingstone. Even if that whole thing was an act, it definietly gernerated a lot of attention.

it's gotta be a real mindf**k to go from the cover of rolling stone to being someone who about 98% of folks either don't remember or have never heard of. leave it to mtv to churn out the ultradisposable pseudocelebrities.

giggle I remember him and that contest they had...the one Dave Holmes really should've won, but fans were so caught up with Jesse's image that they chose him instead. Dave eventually was one of the vj's, even though he lost the contest. He ended up being more successful than Jesse anyway. He's on court tv and somethin' else now. I knew that was an act from the start though.

Yeah he still looks the same (and dresses the same too). Dave Holmes seems to be doing pretty well for himself. Jesse was kind of a "second rate Pauly Shore" to me.

The last I heard from him was a couple of years ago when he decided to venture into acting. He was starring as a villain in some independent film.

I just thought he was so adorable! What a face. What do you think of the new VJ's? I guess that guy Qudus (or however you spell it) has been there for a while now along with La La. Qudus is a dork in my opinion. Bring back Jesse!

That would be a trip seeing him in a film. I wonder if he can act?

I'm not really familiar with a lot of the vj's on MTV right now. I do know Quadud though. I think he's cute.

Last, I heard that the dude went to rehab and tried to get his band signed w/a major label but it didn't work out. So, he is still with a indie.

The anti-christ....so annonying! I like the fact that he won and then they regretted their show quickly and kept adding to the second place guy into the channel, who was a short and husky but very knowledable and cool guy (I think his name was Dave). I saw Dave on something like TBS with some semi-famous chick and they apperaed in bumpers, talking about behind the scenes stuff. They tried to pawn it off as DVD extras....I know I heard something about Jesse not to long ago...he was bitching about something, maybe how MTV treated him.

Well the first CD didn't chart (or barely charted) despite MTV presense. So he was on Hollywood but now the CD is out of print and sells at Amazon for how much...a penny, and Amazon dealers often sell for more than Ebay opening (and closing) bids!

Another little interesting fact about his cd. Did you know Stevie Nicks sang on one of the songs? Isn't that weird? I wonder how the hell they hooked up and what made her say yes? eek

You know what. He didn't have that bad of a voice shockily enough. That's probably why she said yes.

I think I remember hearing that....must have been stoned...
I also could have sworn he was on MTV with Tori Amos and butted in on an interview that Carson was doing...and he started singing with her and she was laughing it up!
