what's on Mariah's IPOD playlist? I've always loved the celebrity IPOD playlists, probably tells you more about an artists than any Interview or E speacial.
anyhoo here's what Mariah's listening 2: Mariah's playlist is the new addition to iTunes 'Celebrity Playlist'. Here's what Mariah had to say about the songs she picked for her playlist: “This is a pretty eclectic group of songs that I wanted to showcase. Basically I have a lot of different playlists on my iPod depending on the mood/moment I’m in. Whether it’s trying to relax or getting ready to go out for the night, somehow these songs find their way back onto my ‘recently played’ list. Anyways, these songs are a little taste of the music and artists that inspire me. .. each in their own special way.” “It’s Like That” – Mariah Carey (Track 1): “A fun, party record, just a glimpse from The Emancipation of Mimi.” “Outstanding” – The Gap Band (Track 2): “Complete & total classic!” “Ain’t No Way” – Aretha Franklin (Track 3): “The Queen of Soul doing what she does best, nothing more needs to be said!” “I Wanna Be Your Lover” – Prince (Track 4): “Prince in just one of his many stellar moments” “Eric B. Is President” – Eric B. & Rakim (Track 5): “Takes me down memory lane. A turning point in hip-hop.” “Perfect” – Snoop Dogg & Charlie Wilson (Track 6): “They wrote this song about me. That’s just what I heard though…Ha, Ha” “At Your Best (You Are Love)” – Aaliyah (Track 7): “An angelic vocal performance by Aaliyah. Truly did the original record justice, God bless her soul.” “Da Mystery of Chessboxin’” – Wu-Tang Clan (Track 8): “Cause, ‘Rap styles vary and…’” “Fantasy (Remix) – Mariah Carey & Old Dirty Bastard (Track 9): “In memory of my friend, may he R.I.P.” “Jesus Children of America” – Stevie Wonder (Track 10): “It’s hard to choose from a body of work of a true genius, but in my opinion this is one of his best songs. I love this record.” “I Need You To Survive” – Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Choir (Track 11): “Powerful & moving. An extremely uplifting song.” “Shook Ones, Pt. 2” – Mobb Deep (Track 12): “A stone winner, a must have, a timeless New York classic.” “This Can’t Be Life” – Beanie Sigel, Jay-Z & Scarface (Track 13): “This track was never a single but I always loved it off the album. Hov has always been my favorite.” “Glorious (Make The Praise)” – Karen Clark-Sheard (Track 14): “An inspirational song with an incredible vocal performance by one of the world’s greatest singers. (Listen to the background vocals and the modulations, they’re amazing).” “La Di Da Di (Live)” – Slick Rick & Doug. E. Fresh (Track 15): “An all time favorite that will always make me happy and a reminder of carefree moments growing up.” “We Belong Together” – Mariah Carey (Track 16): “This is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever recorded…It’s brand new from The Emancipation of Mimi.”

She probably doesn't even know about this list. Her publicist probably picked the most PC songs and of course had to include Mariah. If they didn't the talk would be "She expects us to buy it but she doesn't even listen to it". I would have passed on the list. In truth she's probably listening to Hanson. MMMbop. back to back. I thought I was alone! I'm sort of happy for her comeback (the press was just savagely attacking her) but you forget how annoying she is.

I know! Could you imagine! I mean I suppose you have to dig your own jams otherwise what is the point? but I don't know if i'd sit around listening to my own music if I were an artist.

I like it, that's why I choose to work on it in the first place. And you know what, I bet if Prince had an iPod, close to half of it would probalby be his own shit.

You are totally right about the Prince thing. Home boy probably doesn't listen to anything else except his own stuff. I could totally picture him now at home rocking out to "little red covert".

I always chuckle whenever artists say that they don't listen to their own albums after they're recorded.Donna Summer has said this, and so has Prince.I'm like "Yeah, right!"

I doubt they listen to their old stuff very often (I mean anything over 3 years old).

I was waiting until she mentioned a Clark Sister. Anyone familiar with their work knows that her song "Your Girl" from The Emancipation of Mimi is a vocal homage to them. The background vocal arrangement, runs and trills have The Clark Sisters written all over it.
