AMERIE-TOUCH really good CD Just got an advance of this CD, even though I wasnt crazy about her first CD. I really Like AMERIE. She is growing as an artist much like AALIYAH was. The AMERIE record is full of solid Tracks, like "1THING" and "TALKIN ABOUT" which are both in the "LIVE RB FEEL" something that RB hasnt had in about 20 years. But I think the best track is "TOUCH", probably going to be the next single, this track is HOT!! Kind of like a lost VANITY 6 track, Sexy but not Trashy. The record has cool Retro 70's vibe to it, and NO GUEST RAPPERS except for a Bonus track "1THING" remix w/EVE but thats it for RAP GUESTS!!!
I really love the cover (along with the Rest of the Pictures of Amerie in the Book) but that Cover has that Diana Ross/Donna Summer album cover feel of the 70's. If the record is anything like "1 Thing", I'll love it.

Your description sounds pretty good. can you tell me roughly how many fast tracks there are vs slow jams. I'm not into slow r&b jams which is why i'm asking. If there's enough fast ones, in the "1 thing" vein, i'd definitely buy this cd.

If there's enough fast ones, in the "1 thing" vein, i'd definitely buy this cd. Out of the 13 tracks, 9 are fast, the CD gets a slow groove towards the end, the last 2 tracks. But they arent Lame RB. Overall I would say a 3 1/2 to 4 stars for this Record if i were to rate it from 0-5. Also good is the fact that AMERIE wrote almost every track, and shared all the production credits. About 4-5 of the "faster" upbeat tracks are in the "1 thing" mode, some arent, but still are well worth it. Like I said I Really Like AMERIE, but didnt really like the first CD, because of the "today" sounding RB production. This CD is Funky, Raw at some parts, very Sexy at times especailly that "TOUCH" track and smooth at other parts. Im sure this CD wont be a big seller in the RB world but hopefully AMERIE will get the respect she deserves for a good record. I'm definitely looking forward to this CD. I also like Amerie and have heard a few cuts so far. The song Touch/i] grew on me but the one I really like is [i]Rolling Down My Face which is very reminiscent of the material from the first album which is fine with me 'cause I liked it. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

NO GUEST RAPPERS
Mary J. Blige, take note. That being said, when will the industry admit that Crazy in Love, Get Right and 1 Thing are the same song? Amerie's voice is just too high and thin for me. The production around her seems overpowering. [Edited 4/21/05 20:00pm]
