CELINE DION SLAMS LAS VEGAS AUDIENCES-AP

Superstar Celine Dion has hit out at audiences at her Las Vegas shows at Caesars Palace, saying that the audience is different from that of other concerts.
She tells the Chicago Sun-Times, "When I started here, I told myself, 'I'm not gonna expect anything.' That only leaves you open to disappointment.

"People come here for four days, they eat too much, drink too many free drinks, they get sick from all that, they are jet-lagged sometimes, so they just sit in the seat and sleep.

"As an entertainer, you have to be prepared for everything when it comes to the audience here. When you tour, people come there specifically that night to see you.

"They bought their tickets months and months ago. Here, they walk up to the box office an hour before the show. It's a very different kind of audience."

I'm kinda with Celine on this one. As an artist it has to be disheatening to have people so visibly drunk and rowdy at your show. I heard stories about this where people were acting really drunk like they were at a bar. People getting sick. Suffice it to say it's probably not something she's used to because like she said when you tour the people are actually psched to see you.

EW b!tch Jessica Shaw was on a show tonight where they were talking about this when Jessica sassily retorted that Celine is played out (true) and that people are sick of her. But if that's the case why plop down so much money to stagger into one of her shows? And while the show ma be boring (argueable) from the clips I've seen this ing is busy as hell. You have to have the attention span of a kindergartener to be attention starved at this show. It reminds me of a friend who gets bored to tears with such roller-coaster entertainment as "24", "Alias" and "Kill Bill". But I digress.

if she wants rapt reverence, let her go on a lilith fair tour. she's playing vegas. tourists, retirees, people who are going to see bright shiny things and get drunk. vegas is a famously harsh place to perform, doesn't everyone know that?

See my problem is that she chose to do this and didn't really think it through. She probably thought...oooh great I'll be seen by people EVERY NIGHT...I'll be a staple...and I get to stay in one place and not have to do the whole tour thing, which sucks. She sounds like someone who is singing sour grapes..and reaping what she has sown.

First of all, people should let Celine know that people have to buy their tickets at least 3 months in advance for her show. They can't just get a ticket before the show

Even with all that said, I disagree. Hell I ditched work and drove from LA to catch some of the shows in Vegas! Need I remind everyone that Prince kicked ass there for how many days? It is the performer and the show. If she is not happy with what is going on then change it! Don't rip the audience.

Wait. After a year or so of performances, she expected something other than a crowd of overindulged drunk people...in Vegas? And given that her songs are aural sleep aids, how could she expect anything other than a audience.

See what gets me...is that she's one of many whining celebrities out there. Wah Wah Wah! Shit, I WISH I could have the money or opportunity these people have...I'd certainly make better use of it than doing 2 shows a week in Vegas. Don't these people know how pathetic they sound?
