The thing I don't like about jazz, (and I know I'm exaggerating here) is that, at least NOWADAYS, it seems to be music for music students. Funk, true funk, don't get too high-minded, it just lays in the groove and does it's thing. Funk aint so much about showing off as it is about just dancing. Jazz seems to be a "oh please! look at me! look at me! dig my shit!" thing... everybody solos and solos and solos. YAWN.
