on the lets dance album,steve ray vaughn played all lead guitars
i think he contributed to the overall sound of "let's dance" album.
he carried the sound on that album.
too bad they didnt do anything else after that album.

from what i remember, stevie ray vaughn and david bowie got along like oil and water during the recording of "let's dance" - SRV was supposed to tour with bowie on the "serious moonlight" tour, but they just couldn't hang.

love the guitar solos on that album.

There also was a money issue, although Carlos Alomar (his guitarist at the time) has stated that each band member made good money on the Serious Moonlight Tour.
Bowie had to call in Earl Slick (he also played guitar on the Reality tour) as a last minute replacement just a few days before the opening night in Brussel.

I have read so many different versions of the SRV quitting Bowie story.
I read one with SRV's bassist who said that SRV was getting paid a weekly sum.Then Bowies management started adding more and more dates. This meant that the weekly sum did not look as good after a while. Also, SRV was supposed to do all kinda'GUITAR HERO' poses onstage which he did not really like. Apparently Bowies management also did not want SRV doing interviews unless they were 'ok'ed
by them.
SRV's management demaded more money on the verge of the tour. Bowie was not there at the time he was doing promotion. The end result was SRV getting fired.Bowies band boarded the plane, leaving SRV with his stuff at the airport.
Who knows what the truth was? I do not think SRV's heart was really into doing it, and he wanted out.

That's what I heard as well. But Stevie did a great job on that album which was produced by my boy Nile Rogers. I remember seeing the video to "Let's Dance" and watching Bowie "pretend" to play the solo, wearing the white gloves. He did a good job though. Bowie had the little vibrato shake in his wrist. That's what made it look on target. A lot of folks to this day thinks that's Bowie playing that lead.
