Your statement "MJ could show some skills as a musician" just engendered the funniest image in my mind of Prince and MJ touring together with Prince doing the moonwalk and MJ doing guitar heroics lol

O.M.G. if i ever saw P do tha moonwalk, i'd flip the fuck out it'd be like him telling MJ " yeah i can do that too bitch, now play. why don't you pick up a damn telecaster" or something. i would love to see P get in some kind of musical battle with someone. don't know who, but it'd be cool.

7salles when you need him? He'll clear up the "huger" vocal range question in an instant. lol

cool

Prince has great range when you count on falsetto, his tenor range is not great. I don't consider falsetto when discussing range, michael jackson has a much more powerful voice, even tought Prince is the obvious genious of the two.

Co sign, Michael may have the better voice, but prince is just so much more versatile

Actually, Prince's voice has gotten better with age. Michael's voice seems to have declined a bit. It's like Michael has "blown" his voice out: Michael had a GREAT voice as a youngster.

Yet even though I'm more of Prince fan, I respect Michael's contribution to music. Michael deserves respect as an artist. I just prefer Prince as a songwriter, vocalist, musician and performer. It's probably more a matter of personal taste.

Yeah, but I think it's more than just personal taste. At least going by the credits, Michael had a lot more help creating the music he did than prince and he released so much less anyway. Although Prince did plagiarize his friends' ideas some times (although I don't know which ones or how many). Prince has always self-produced, written and arranged his own stuff (with fewer co-written songs), and played most of the instruments (or at least some). And you're right, Michael's voice isn't as good as it used to be, but that's probably because...THE GUY IS NUTS AND HE'S HORRIBLE MUTILATED HIMSELF.

On MJ's side though, I think Michael's made of the best dance songs and paranoia songs of all time, he's a fantastic dancer, as well as a highly innovative and influential figure in both dancing and music video, and he had one of the best singing voices of all time (even in decline it's pretty damn awesome).

Damn, I must've said this same shit a million times. What is it with all the MJ, Prince comparison threads. There are so many other artists that you could more easily compare P to, why do people always bring up MJ? confused

duh, I hate to see MJ underrated as a songwriter. Lack of MJ's songwriting is what makes 2300 Jackson Street a dull album.

And I gotta say MJ is really versatile musically too. Didnt he do almost a lil bit of everything?

prince is a genius but so is mj. prince said it too.
