he's always played drums,
i believe Guitar, if im not mistaken Slash from Guns And Roses taught him.
keyboard, and and Vocal Percussion

my guess is he hasn't developed much skill thus its only in studio

The only thing i think Mike can play is percussion, even then i'm not so sure.
Forget photos of him sat at a piano or the I'll Be There Pepsi commercial (You don't actually see him play the piano at all), he just doesn't play.i don't believe the liner notes for 'Morphine' either where it says he plays nearly everything. liner notes on one song on one your own albums can say what the hell you want them too if you're Michael Jackson.

I've been a fan since i was 6 in 1976, and i can honestly say 'ive never seen Michael play any instrument. Ever!!! Honest. shrug

i dunno lol
if he wants to forge his own liner notes thats his problem lol
i dion't care lol

Not as much as mike's talked here. Although Mike's THE best to me both musically and as a showman, I spend more time at non-mj sites.

by the way, he plays the piano, he's been getting lessons since he was little.

He can't play shit. A few chords perhaps, but nowt else.

The reason MJ is discussed so much here is that a lot of fans cant handle the fact he gets more props than Prince when he clearly isnt as talented.

One of the reasons for this is that Prince never sold out in the early days and stuck to what he wanted to do

He's a cool cat on stage MJ, but he's never the musician that Prince is and I'm talking all round here

no.
if he played it live, people here would say why's everyone trying to play a fucking piano now? same thing with madonna on guitar

if he doesnt play it live, then he's just taking credit for his ego.
so in either way people wont believe it. wink

whatever, he plays it or not, he's exceptionally talented at other aspects of his career. he wasnt born to play music, he was born to create music

Nice save there. lol

Anyway, my view of it is: if I've never seen them with an instrument in their hands, they've likely never played it. You'd think that with all the in-studio and candid shots of Michael, there would at least be a few of him playing the piano.

Which makes Madonna more of a musician than MJ, anyhow. At least she tries.

Oh, and I wouldn't laugh at him for playing an instrument live. I'd actually give him props for it.

Prince...
has better range
But
Mj is smoother

I prefer Prince's Falsetto the Mj's Falsetto...

but then again

well anybody who believes Mj has the better range, obviously doesn't know much

Prince's is a throaty HIGH and i MEAN FUCKING screeching Falsetto
and then he goes from Schreeching to a Barry White low Baritone

i seriously doubt MJ's voice could do the Song Adore...

Prince has better range

As far as vocal range, we have heard Prince go higher if we include falsetto (though i'm sure MJ could go there if he wanted to scream his ass off). But based on there natural voices, MJ has more range. Prince can sing lower, no doubt about that.

But nobody can F with 11 year old MJ vocally.

alot of us don't know the Definition of RANGE

Range is not how long you can screech or how you can sing

Range is how many tones you can Produce

Tenor Falsetto and baritone

a combonation

Who ever is able to do the most has most Range
thus Ruling Mj out...

Coming frome 7 years of singing lessons

Testing range is what prince does
he goes from a high falsetto to a low baritone

Prince has Range
Mj has a little range (he can't really go low, and don't say 2000 watts)

Prince's Range is better than , Lenny Williams
who had one of the best ranges around

The lowest I have heard MJ go was on "You Can't Win". Prince has got almost a Barry White like speaking voice so I expect him to go lower. It amazez me how high he can go in his falsetto with such a deep speaking voice.

Funny how no one wonders WHY Jacko hasn't sang live at TV Events for 18-20 years? Take a wild guess why. Because he can't! The guy had to many nose jobs and can only sing in spurts in the recording studio & it takes him a ton of takes to complete a verse. Also he has a "skinny white guy" who does allot of his singing he cant do anymore. ( I know people who have worked on his albums & in the industry. He is a complete fraud )

if I am wrong or I assume morons will laugh this off eek explain why he never sings live at any tv performance??? also 95% of the time at concerts he lip syncs. As well as when he does turn on the mic his voice is always off key.

This "skinny white guy" was brought up/exposed by the producers of The Simpsons. MJ did the voice for the episode but he had this same guy do all the singing for "Happy Birthday Lisa".

How in the world can anyone talk about a Guy as a amazinf singer when he is ONLY a studio musican??? BUT never proves his "talent" live? NOW add to that he doesn't even sing in the studio for the most part.

barbra streisand never got a nose job because she was concerned about her voice changing. HOW in the world can Jacko get 20+ Nose Jobs and his voices sounds exactly like it did in 1979. eek lol Oh I forgot he has super powers lol

But off that topic just look at all the MJ fans jump off the jacko train lol

Uh... he's voice doesn't sound the same as in 1979 lol. Listen to "Rock With You" then "One More Chance". Big difference.

That white guy that sang his parts in the Simpsons was only there because Mike wasn't allowed to sing on the show because of his contract with Sony. But, I guess you missed that part. You also must have missed when they said that they actually got to hear Mike singing the song and were blown away. Plus... anybody could recognise that, that ain't Mike singing on the Simpsons.

Also, "Cry" was done in one take.

As far as live singing... the J5 performance at MSG 2001 was completely live (besides overdubbs on "I Want You Back" for television) and he was off key very rarely.
