I got into them when I was in jr high when I bought IV and have been hooked ever since (I got into zep right around the same time as Prince...I think maybe 83?). Some things about their stuff, it never ages. Also, everyone agrees that Bonzo was the backbone of that band and Pagey was right to disband after his death. As the years have gone by...I can honestly say at this point of my life my fave albums are Physical Graffiti, III, Houses of the Holy, & (still) IV. Finally, after 1 year that How The West Was Won came out, I am still listening to at least one of the discs everyday. I just friggin love that set (the DVD is kick ass too...of course) Ditto on all of that. Those are probably my top three albums as well. The loooong 23 minute version of WLL that they do on "How the West Was Won" is amazing. Whenever I play any of the three CDs from this set to people who don't know the band, or weren't really fans in the first place, I always get the reaction "Who is this?!" or "Man, I didn't realize what a great band they were." and comments like that. And then everyone wants me to give them of copy of it. My fave version of Whole Lotta Love is the Knebworth one, tons of new riffs and it sounds so darn fresh. My fave bootleg is the Madison Square Garden gig on 12th Feb 1975, i have over 150 but that one is just incredible.

Mind you, this was not long after I had gotten into Zepplin, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to discover that one of them was into my favorite musician. Maybe its a bit silly, but it was really cool to me at the time (hey, I was in junior high at the time!!) Plant WAS at the RRHOF when Prince did his amazing guitar solo on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". I wonder what he thought of that? I also wonder what Page thinks of him. One of my fantasies is to meet Page one day and just talk with him about music all night long. I have so many questions. God I'm a dork. God I'm a dork. [Edited 9/10/04 9:16am] There would be little to no talking about music going on in that fantasy and you know it. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

[Edited 9/10/04 9:16am] I don't know about now, but he positively GUSHED back then!! In fact, he also had a thing where he "took over" MTV for four hours and played a bunch of videos (I believe this was 86 or 87) and he played at least two Prince videos (I remember "Girls & Boys" and "Raspberry Beret", though there may have been others). I've always gotten a kick out of Robert making references to music I'm into. His friendship and mutual admiration for Tori Amos for one, as well as his collaborations with Porl Thompson of The Cure (I LOVED it on the Page/Plant tour when they played "Lullaby". I think I may have been the only one in the arena who knew the song!!) It is interesting to hear what Zep members think/thought of other artists. And the fact that they collaborated with Porl? I am a HUGE Cure fan as well, and to this day I am kicking myself that I never saw the Page/Plant tour. I really don't know where I was during that time, but I wasn't really following Page and Plant then, so therefore didn't go see them. Damn. If you've read the Auguest issue of MOJO, there is a joint interview with Page and Jeff Beck, and they both sort of express admiration for The Prodigy, which is surprising to me. I'm also a Prodigy fan btw. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Yep. So was Eric Clapton at one point. Jimmy was in the last line-up of the Yardbirds, and then that group disbanded. He was the only one left and put a whole new group together, who would later become Led Zeppelin. Zeppelin's very first shows were actually advertised as The New Yardbirds, until they changed their name to Led Zeppelin. Here are some pics of the remaining members today..... Jimmy in Japan in February this year for some reason posing for a pic with Sofia Coppola. and Jimmy with Dean DeLeo from Stone Temple Pilots Robert John Paul Jones and of course I can't post a pic of Bonzo because, well he's dead. No. He did sit in on drums with the surviving members at the 40th Anniversary of Atlantic Records tho. This was in...1990. , [Edited 9/12/04 16:43pm] This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Plant looks really old these days, having said that hes always looked older. Page seemed to age a lot in the 80s but he looks cool now. Jones has aged the most gracefully. If youre after bootlegs you should check out some of the trading groups at yahoo groups or MSN groups. Some of the friendliest people around and theyll set you up with whatever your after!

Thaks for the info. I have been lurking around on some boot sites, but it's just so vast I don't know where to begin. Yeah, Jimmy looked HORRIBLE in the 80s! He looks better than ever now though. Well, maybe not better than EVER. That would have been in the late 60s and up until about '76. I have some pics of the two playing at Jason Bonham's wedding. Sort of scary. and Page looks ugly on the Led Zep DVD, the final concert in Knebworth.. what the hell is he wearing?? Knebworth was towards the end of '79, and styles were changing drastically around 1980. He had on a very 80s style pants and shirt. He was just sweating so much though, no doubt from his heroin addiction. Not looking good at all. I have to say though that Page always looked amazing with his style. Some things he wore back in the day, no one could pull off and still look that cool. Like a brocade blouse.... And even in a giant grandma sweater Oh, but here's a Knebworth pic.... Here's Page with the Theramin I'm not posting the wedding pics though because I only want to post pics of them when they still look GOOD, and those are...well, they're not the most flattering. Robert is younger than Jimmy, yet somehow has not aged as well. That just reminded me of something though. I went to the Bilal concert last night in Rotterdam (which could be a whole NOTHER thread altogether ) and the band played the first part of Kashmir while Bilal was busy halfway through the show powdering his nose backstage. It kind of sucked, but I give them an A for effort. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven
