And that is..... I got into them when I was about 11 or 12, and the rest is history. Oh, and Supernova, you're absolutely right about Bonzo. I was watching the DVD again last night and when it got to Moby Dick (The Royal Albert Hall part, 1970) and Bonzo, I really WATCHED the whole thing this time. (it's about a 17 min. drum solo) The MAN WAS MINDBLOWING! There are really no words to describe how amazing this man was. I actually cried when it was over, because he was so talented and it makes me sad every time I watch him. Sad that he's not around anymore. Ok, now I can start my usual picture posting frenzy....
Oh you have to get that DVD SOON! It's the next best thing to seeing them live of course. I obviously never saw them live, being too young. It's funny though when I watch that DVD, and realize that half of the footage that I am drooling over was filmed when I wasn't even born yet. http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm Heyylll NO. I can't stand that self-righteous jackass, and for years he's been banned from my dial. Why? I think the last time I listened to him was in 1992 when he was based out of San Diego. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Bonzo was one of the greatest drummers I've ever heard in my life!!! Led Zeppelin was and is one of the greatest bands. They could play any type of modern music to me. The DVD is awesome, but I like the CD version a little better. One of my favs How the West Was Won is Black Dog. The way Bonzo doubles up on the drumming is phenomenal, along with Jimmy Page's guitary, Robert Plant's awesome singing, and John Paul's bass playing. That group was and still is the baddest and fiercest to me!!

I agree. I am literally addicted to that DVD. I make my husband watch it with me all the time. Pretty good considering he's a total funk-head and rarely listened to anything that wasn't funky, except for a few New Wave bands here and there. Probably the most influencial rock band of all time after The Beatles.
One of my best friends (and former roomate) is as fanatical about Zepplin as I am about Prince (in fact, more so!). He's got TONS of Zepplin memorabilia, and everyone calls him "Zep". He's educated me about their music to an incredible degree. One of the few bands that I own all of their original studio albums (I still need to pick up all the live discs, and the BBC thingy). Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I was listening to Physical Graffiti today and it occured to me what a great rock n roll album it wouldve been in its original format
Custard Pie In My Time Of Dying Trampled Underfoot Kashmir In The Light Ten Years Gone The Wanton Song Sick Again Even in its abbreviated original form it wouldve still been their strongest album. Sick Again in particular rules, those licks are so sleazy.

Also, Physical Graffiti was the first Zeppelin album I bought when I was around 12. I had never heard them before (except maybe for "Stairway" on the radio or something). I remember laying on the floor and just playing it over and over again. I wanted to figure out the lyrics, and I had this big notebook that I would write the lyrics down as I heard them, so I could remember them better. Cool to see so many Zep fans here.
I got into them when I was in jr high when I bought IV and have been hooked ever since (I got into zep right around the same time as Prince...I think maybe 83?). Some things about their stuff, it never ages. Also, everyone agrees that Bonzo was the backbone of that band and Pagey was right to disband after his death. As the years have gone by...I can honestly say at this point of my life my fave albums are Physical Graffiti, III, Houses of the Holy, & (still) IV. Finally, after 1 year that How The West Was Won came out, I am still listening to at least one of the discs everyday. I just friggin love that set (the DVD is kick ass too...of course)
