Has anyone ever visited a "Town Without Pity"?

I mention the Ronnie Montrose's instrumental version of Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame member
Gene Pitney's Town Without Pity in a previous thread. This made me want to hear the original.
While listening I decided to research Gene Pitney's career and found some interesting achievements.

~Town Without Pity was his first American Top 20 hit and million-selling single.
The song won the Golden Globe Award for "Best Song in a Motion Picture" and was nominated for an Oscar.
Performing the song at the 1962 Acadamy Awards made him the 1st pop artist invited to perform at this event.

~Wrote Million Selling hit Rubber Ball for Bobby Vee.

~Wrote Hello Mary Lou for Ricky Nelson which sold 2 million copies and earned him a 2nd BMI MILLIONAIRE AWARD in 1997 because it had been performed over 2 million times in the US market.

~Performed another title song for a movie, The Man Who Shot Libert Valance, which garnered him his 2nd Gold record.

~Wrote Million Selling hit He's A Rebel for the Crystals.

~Admiration from the Rolling Stones caused Mick Jagger and Keith Richards to write That Girl Belongs To Yesterday for him.
This became the 1st Jagger/Richards penned tune to chart in the States. Pitney returned the favor by playing piano on the Stone's Little By Little (b-side of Not Fade Away).

Other Gene Pitney hits:
It Hurts To Be In Love
Lookin' Through The Eyes Of Love
I Must Be Seeing Things
Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa

Gene Pitney songs recorded by others:
Roy Orbison:
Darkness
Today's Teardrops
Twenty-Two Days

Ricky Nelson:
Sure Fire Bet

Tommy Edwards:
Blue Heartaches

Ray Peterson:
Across The Street

It was from the movie of the same name...

...Town Without Pity, featuring Kirk Douglas, E.G. Marshall and Robert Blake.

Indeed. From what I read, he's still out there and doing well in Europe.

I'm sure his royalty checks have kept him in good shape. nod
