I was just listening to this song and i started thinking. Just before releasing the 'no strings attached' album Nsync broke with their manager and record company exect. by the name of Pearlman. From what i heard it wasn't a friendly parting of the ways and i get the feeling this song 'bye bye bye' might be more then just a 'relationship gona bad'-song, seems like it's Nsync slammin the door on their way out...sort of a sarcastic kick under the belt. Anyone any thoughts and what was the full story on that break-up with their manager?

The way the story goes is that NSYNC wanted to leave Lou Pearlman for JIVE because he was keeping like 90% of their profits from their album and their tours and Lou didn't want to let them go, so he took them to court and tried to keep their name, which Justin Timberlake's mom had came up with before the group had signed with Pearlman....yep, they actually formed the group themselves unlike the Backstreet Boys and the Spice Girls. Well, the trial held up the release of their second album, which was untitled, but was later titled "No Strings Attached" after they had won their case and become liberated from Pearlman. That's their story.

I think most boybands either went through the audition process, or it was a combination of some members knowing each other ahead of time and holding auditions to get the rest of the group together, because more boybands than just *N SYNC have/had members that knew each other beforehand. Including Backstreet Boys, btw.


Also, isn't it interesting how Howie (BSB) and Chris (*N SYNC) nearly ended up in the opposite boyband? The fact that they were originally in the opposite groups, (which were both controlled by Lou Pearlman) but then were switched is proof that, no, *N SYNC didn't form the group on their own either.

Both of their stories, NSYNC and BSB, are very similar actually. Both groups originally had just three members who knew each other. Justin, JC, and Joey had all worked on the Micky Mouse Club together and Joey knew Chris from working at Universal Studios. Lance came in as a replacement. AJ, Howie, and Nick had all auditioned at the same events together and had known each other for years before they auditioned for Lou Pearlman. Kevin didn't know them, and when one of the original members dropped out, he called his cousin Brian as a replacement. I agree that it is weird how Howie and Chris went to the same college together and were in the same class, yet ended up in different groups. What I mean by NSYNC put themselves together more was that Chris actually went out and picked JC, Justin, and Joey, and together they all picked Lance, whereas BSB went in for auditions and Lou Pearlman was actually the one who put them together. He was the one who chose who was going to be in the group.

He was an extra on the show. I remember them talking about it on the E! True Hollywood Story and in an old interview they did.
