OK you remember the early 80s.... before videos became what they are today..RIGHT??? Do you remember when videos on MTV and your local video channel in your city were so low-budget and cheesy until it was almost hilarious....(granted some made you want to cry). What are some of the videos from the early 80's you want to give attention to on this thread. What were some of the best videos of the 80's?. What low budget vidoes made you want to puke???? What videos even though they were low budget..were actually effective??? Allow me to get this started...

***Gary Numan-Cars.....This video was strange and campy...yet for the type of song this was( electro new wave)the video was actually a nice compliment.

*** Styx-Mr.Roboto....Oh my goodness. This is one of the worst songs in the entire HISTORY OF MUSIC!!!! Can you believe this song made the Billboard top 10 in 1983. The video was twice as awful. I especially hate the last line when the mystery man reveals his true identity...."I'M KILROY...KIL-ROY"""". UGGGGHHHH!!!!! I hate that song.

***Rick James-Give It To Me Baby...I like this video. Rick acted the lyrics out on the song brillantly. In the video he comes home late at night. He's a little intoxicated. he then comes and tries to get in bed with his girlfriend....but she AIN'T having it. She then puts on her one piece and goes out to the swimming pool...Rick follows her out to the pool he wants some loving,"guess that's why he's so elated"(smile). Nice low budget video. Video stations don't show this one as much as they show "Super Freak" but it's good.

*** Olivia Newton John-Physical.....Funny video. Olivia goes to a workout spa/gym. All she sees is a bunch of fat overweight dudes working out..she seems unimpressed and bored .Still proceeds to workout. After she works out she heads for the shower. When she steps out the shower and goes back into the gym...all she sees are a bunch of muscular dudes with serious six pack abs...needles to say she is impressed.

***Michael Jackson-Rock With You...Even though this is just a simple stage performance video, I think it's one of Mike's best simply because of the stage charisma he exerts.. He is also an exciting performer. This video has a lot of energy and Mike keeps the video interesting with the right blend of dance steps. Girls used to love this video. This is the Michael J that looked like a Black American man. The nose is there ,the skin is there.. everything is intact on this video. And what about that glittering outfit!!!!

***Stevie Wonder-Do I Do...Stevie adds some sense of humor on this song. Stevie is actually out on the dance floor at a nightclub on the song(LOL). He has a bunch beautiful women surrounding him and a few begins kissing on him.
Nice video no doubt because of Stevie's great skiils as a live performer. I don't know if anyone remembers this video but it was good, especially by early 80's standards.

***Prince-Controversy.....Once again a simple low budget video, but very effective. LIL MAN keeps things interesting in the video by acting out brillantly the lyrics of the song on stage. The way he looks into the camera when converying certain points in the song is pure GENIUS!!! He plays coy at times, at other times he assert himself strongly. This is a great video. This was one of the most reqeusted videos back in 81' on our local video channel network. "Controversy" is basically P' attempt to respond to the media quetions about him. He seems to like his fame, but don't really dig all the quetions that comes along with it that people (media) want answers to. "Controversy", the song is as brillant today than it was when it appeared in 81'. This video does a brillant job of accentuating the lyrics of the song. And just think, LIL MAN didn't need to spend millions of dollars to do it. All you bling-bling artists out there..this video is for you.

***Kim Carnes-Bette Davis Eyes.....Great low-budget video for this song. Kind of funny. Kind of mystical. Kind of weird. In other word, this video had a nice mix. I like the way Kim puts her hand over her eyes when she says, "she got Bette Davis eyyeeeesssss".

WOW!! I THOUGHT THIS WAS A PRINCE SITE, NOT A B.S. SITE FOR WHATEVER PICKS YOUR BRAIN.
ANYWAY, MY 2-CENTS WORTH FOR PRINCE VIDEO IS ** AUTOMATIC**. THAT IS ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS HE PUT OUT DURING 1999 ERA. TOTALLY BLEW ME AWAY WITH THE HAT LOOK AND THE BONDAGE SCENE. REALLY COOL !!!

***Darryl Hall And John Oates-Private Eyes.....Funny weird video with Hall and Oates all decked out in their private detective uniform.

***Do You Really Want To Hurt Me???-Culture Club.....This British group's first video was good because it was symbollic of the kind of commotion Boy George was causing in real life with his style of dress. Everybody just drops their jaws in disbelief whenever they see Boy George in this video. This video cause some Black Americans to get upset. There was a scene where they showed some people with black paint painted on their faces and big white lips were drawn onto them. This ouraged a lot of people.

***Atomic Dog-George Clinton.....Funkmaster George Clinton delievered one of the best videos of the early 80's. This video seems to take inside a play house of sorts with all type of video game graphics/animation. There was no video out there like this one at the time it came out.

***The Safety Dance-Men Without Hats.....Another oh my goodness video. This song is so silly but I still like it. And the video for the song was just hilarious. The lead singer Ivan was accompanied by a midget in this village and they go to all kind of festivals(and they even demonstrate the "safety dance"...WOW!!!!). This video was so funny.
