Today’s Independent carries a preview of the August edition of Q magazine featuring the 100 most influential people in the music business. Prince comes in at 49. It looks like there may be an article/interview in the mag too, it says Prince on a banner across the top right corner of the cover but the image in the paper is pretty small....it says something like 'the inside story of his purple reign'.

Let me guess, the top 5 will be:

1. Radiohead
2. The Beatles
3. Oasis
4. Coldplay
5. 50 Cent

I don't have the paper anymore but I don't think any of those were in the top 10! Eminem was No.1, the guys behind the Ipod and ITunes were at 2...then it was mainly industry people, producers, promoters etc. The list was put together by Jack Black, Michael Eavis and a few other people. Others at the top end were Paul McCartney, Jack White, Andre 3000, Clive Davis, Dr Dre...but it was pretty heavy on the record label heads etc

Ahh, sorry, I didn't read it properly, I thought it was one of those top 100 influential artists polls they do every year.

Q polls are always so dull, it's always The Beatles, Radiohead and Nirvana at the top.
