The Missing Link tracklist!

My brother and I are constantly making up hypothetical tracklistings for Prince's back catalogue of unreleased material. Instead of adding on a few tracks here or there on a remaster, he should consider making entirely full alternate albums to those officially released. Stay tuned for a bombardment of brilliant ideas to follow: mr.green

There's been alot of talk about there being no album from the year 1983. So, here's the legendary missing link-

1. Turn It Up
2. Turn It Up part 2
3. Do Yourself a Favour
4. No Call U
5. Feel U Up '81
6. Irresistible Bitch '81
7. Wet Dream's Cousin
8. Possessed
9. Extraloveable
10. Chocolate
11. Purple Music
12. Baby You're A Trip
13. Moonbeam Levels

Whoa, that is incredible! I think that idea is fantastic! I'd be sure to buy all of these types of albums! I think that if Prince wants to ensure his legendary status, he should release his massive catalog as well. That track list is pretty tight. Crystal Ball is a nice catch-all, but it makes a lot more sense to release songs relatively close in creation in a year by year format. Bravo! wink

I've always wanted Prince to release "vault" albums. Things like:

The Vault: Broken (trax from 78-80)
The Vault: Moonbeam Levels (trax from 81-83)
The Vault: Roadhouse Garden (trax from 84-86)
The Vault: Rebirth Of The Flesh (trax from 87-89)
The Vault: Schoolyard (trax from 90-92)
etc
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

You know,I have always wondered about a "missing album" from 1983.I know Prince was busy working on the 'Purple Rain' film, but it seems odd that he didn't release a new album in '83,to tide us over til the movie and soundtrack. He could have released a killer album in summer 1983 w/ these songs:

"Turn It Up"
"Extra Lovable"
"Purple Music"
"No Call U"
"Possessed"
"Electric Intercourse"
"Moonbeam Levels"

I remember an old interview where Prince said he had recorded "the follow-up to '1999" but decided not to release it,opting instead to go in a new direction (he was clearly referring to the more rock-oriented sounds of 'Purple Rain' and 'ATWIAD').

I think maybe one reason why P didn't release an album in 1983 is because 1999 was selling so well in 83' and WB(perhaps even P) didn't want to interfere with the sales momentum of 1999(which was experiencing huge sales). Plus he was focused on the upcoming movie. Strange he didn't fill 1983 with an album.

yeah,1999 was a bit of a slow burner as far as sales went, but as soon as MTV picked up on the 1999 and Little Red Courvette promo videos it started selling shitloads ,the year long break between 1999 and Purple Rains releases was a very good thing for his career.

Plus, keep in mind that Prince had to convince WB to let him release 1999 as a double album. I'm sure after begging to get it released, it would have been tough for him to come back and say to them one year later "Let's release another album!" At this point in his career, he didn't have the stature to do that yet.

I would love to own official releases of all these bootlegs... whther it be the idea proposed or If Prine did continue with The Crystal ball series. I'd like to see a bit of action on any, like when they released the beatles anthology series in 1995 but instead of demo's and alternate mixes just 'unreleased and out-takes'

Prince seems to not want to release much of his unreleased "vault" tracks. He changed his mind about "Roadhouse Garden" and "Crystal Ball II" and numerous other projects. I think he'd feel it would be "going backwards" in his career or something, but I could put those songs in context and would love hearing them. The main drawback of the NPGMC has been that Prince hasn't released any exclusive albums through the club that his fans would love. Thank God for the bootleggers or we would never have heard much of Prince's best work!
