Would ATWIAD have been better as a double album, including America 12" and the B sides? I think so. It feels like the era was cut short because of the constraints of vinyl.
Missing! Side 1 ATWIAD Paisley Park 12" Shes Always in my hair 12" Condition of the heart Side 2 Raspberry Beret 12" 4 the tears in your eyes Tamborine Girl Side 3 America 12" Side 4 Hello Pop Life 12" The Ladder Temptation Try listening as a whole. It fantastic. .

wow, when you put it like that, it would have been a killer double disc. This album is killer anyway. One of my faves.

All 3 B-sides are standouts, but I like the idea of B-sides being secrets, treasures that only those willing to buy the singles would have the pleasure of hearing. However, it does make for a great listen!

And the choices of singles destroyed the Purple Rain success (I know that was probably the idea).
The Singles should have been: 1. Shes Always In My Hair (rocky with new feel) 2. The Ladder (The Purple Rain of the album) 3. Pop Life (lets go pop) 4. Raspberry Beret (public are now used to the new sound) 5. America (thumping end to the era) Now don't get me started on Parade..... .

I think that ATWIAD would have been a more impressive album as a double. It would have been interesting 2 see what the response 2 that would have been, coming off of the huge success of Purple Rain. Wow! That is the BOMB album, SquirrelMeat!
I'd buy that today. I love B-sides, too, but I wonder if that lineup w/B-sides might have made Around The World In A Day even more appreciated. Peace, y'all

I was thinking about something today... Why the hell didn't P put She's Always In My Hair on ATWIAD?! Its better than every song on that album! IMO 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 6, 6...

Perhaps Prince should re-release the cd this way.

Looks like a pretty cool tracklist U got there. Since I've got most of the trax on my pc I'll arrange m in a minute and give the whole thing a listen.
I've also often wondered why "She's always in my hair" was omitted from the album. [or perhaps never even intended 4 it]. The 12" of "raspberry beret" is so much cooler than the album version. That intro is just so freakin' funky. All them 12" versions are indeed good enough 2 make it on2 the album should it ever be re-released.

Each time I am amazed by the limitless powers you seem to possess in wanting to change Prince and his music.
I like it like it is. | |

Actually, a better question is when will he put out another B-side, and with the quality of something like SAIMH! Back in the day, the B-side was almost always AT LEAST as good as the A-side, and usually better! And that was saying something because the A-side was already fantastic! Ah well...

With all the great B-sides that Prince has, every album would have been a double album. __________________________________________________
