Gangster Glam song

I've just bought Gett Off maxi single, and there was that Gangster Glam song. I wonder why does he sing the refrain in a high voice? It sounds almost like a love-song. Well, I wouldn't say it is that bad though

The fact that Prince ever associated himself with the word "Gangster" puts me off.

I actually like this song boxed

Reminds me so much of the summer of 1991,when I was anxiously awaiting the 'Diamonds and Pearls' CD.

Perhaps singing it in a high voice takes the seriousness out of it - he's singing about gangsters in the fashion sense after all, not the actual attitude of criminals! Ganster Glam was the style they were into - that old 30s-40s ganster style of smart suits and hats mixed with the glam and campness of the Barbarella film.

I like that line, 'funkier than a sack of grandaddies!"

The Gangsta Glam falsetto fits when you see a Typhooned Prince on rollerskates and in the Speedo, makin' eyes at Tony M. What a bizarre video.

shake

All jokes aside, I love the Clockin the Jizz guitar solo. Tight.

Gett Off (including Gangster Glam) was available as a VHS 'video maxi-single', as was sexy M.F. Think that's it, tho'.
