Am in search of academic writing about Prince. Perhaps there are some Prince scholars on the org?

Am surprised Camille Paglia hasn't written more about him, except to say that Marjorie Garber (in "Vested Interests: Cross-Dressing and Cultural Anxiety"), mentions him in passing and knows "clearly nothing" about him. And this was back in 1991.

I myself am beginning to develop a Rousseauian theory.

Can anyone help me out here? I'd like to start doing some serious reading this summer... Will probably pursue a masters in the next year or so.

if the field's wide open, that's all right with me.

but it seems that at one time i saw a reference to some things orgers had written... about "7," say, or interpretations of "TRC" that seemed to me were destined to be published somewhere or were at least seriously written...

know what i'm talking about?

would like to talk to anyone who's written anything serious about prince, really.

I did some research a year or so back about the manner in which he uses ambiguity/adrogyny. What types of sources are you looking for?

what's running through my head right now... i'm rather interested in the "mythology" of prince, the interplay of the apollonian/dionysian, the "pastoral innocence" of some of his imagery - i find it all idealistic. and very contradictory.

am i making any sense?

Prince deserves a serious study of his music by a musicologist. I have thought about taking it on and the thought continues to cross my mind from time to time. Keep me posted if you find anything 'serious', thanks.

Funny, I joined the .org thinking / hoping there would be some people here who are like minded academically and want to take Prince seriously.
