I've been doing it for the last 2 months. It's still a fantastic album. I'm about to buy another copy for a friend of mine. Glad to see that you finally like it Rainbowchild biggrin .
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

what r u listening 2 now?

I'm like that too. I listened for about 1 1/2 wks, then didn't. Then did cuz I saw P again (saw opening and closing nites in LA). Still skip past A Million Days (a bit too codependent -- as are many P songs...I've finally grown out of that tho), Call My Name (opening note is so off key).

Used to skip past Marrying Kind cuz it reminded me too much of events in my life...wishing my ex had a friend who would be there to swoop if he messed up. But I love it...Man in Your Life, I liked at first because it reminded me of Beautiful Ones. Skipped that cuz I was too busy tryiing to get to On the Couch, which is still my fave. It's one of those that I always have to play twice!

What I notice about Prince over the years is that my "faves" change over time. And some become even more precious to me. I find that I notice different traits in songs: different harmonies, arrangements, "hidden treasure", etc. Sometimes the lyrics grab me in a way they didn't before.

This is one of the gifts of being a P fan: he's the gift that keeps on giving!

It's amazing that you say that, because I feel the same way for Prince's songs; currently my favorite on the Musicology album and on repeat in my car is Reflection-- I love its cool vibe-- and the silent part after the last lyric about watching cars go by-- I do the same while driving and doing my own reflection about my life...where I've been and where I'm going...

Yes! That song is really one of Prince's most poignant, heartfelt moments ever. No hidden personalities or studio trickery. I love the way his voice is recorded. The whole track is infused with this lovely mix of melancholy and nostalgia, but also has this peaceful acceptance about letting go of the past. I love it so much. It's perfect.

I am totally feeling love for Musicology! To put it in a little context, I became a fan in 1996 with Chaos And Disorder. After that I bought every album when it came out and with the exception of Emancipation I was a little dissapointed with all of them. I was starting to doubt that Prince would ever make another album that I loved from start to finish, but I'm glad to say he proved me wrong! I hope he can maintain this current balance of experimental albums (Xpectation, N.E.W.S.) and commercial albums (Musicology).

Indeed...something I've appreciated about Musicology now is that he didn't feel compelled to release an over-the-top album as he did in the past...
