Isn't there a little 2 much talking on the Rainbow Children? Does anyone else feel the same way? I loved the album as a whole, but wouldn't it had been a bit more better without the demon voice talking throughout the whole entire album?? What do u guys think? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

On the title track itself, yes.

yes, i can do without fat albert talking my ear off, thank you very much.
back in the '80s, one of my favorite bands, the residents, made an album with a similar concept, called "god in three persons" - the songs were connected with an ongoing spoken-word narration that tied the "concept" of the album together. eventually, the residents released an instrumental version of the album without ANY talking whatsoever, and it was far, far, FAR superior to the original (though the story was very interesting to read in the liner notes, admittedly). i wish p would put out a similar new version of TRC without the babble, which i can barely decipher anyway, as distorted as it is.

Hey hey hey! I'm talkin' about theocratic order here Rudy! bah. theocratic order. those words turn me right off, but the music is so darn catchy. that song's a trial

I love TRC and wouldn't edit out what folks here call 'Darth Vader'. That voice sometimes crops up mid track. Taking out that voice would wreck Digital Garden. 'The banished ones approaching the castle... would be ruined!
Leave TRC as it is. I think it's a great record. if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

yeah i coulda done without the voices. and the theocratic order crap and the borderline anti-semitic lyrics, too.
but the music -- unreal.

i love the music on TRC and there are some songs that are real keepers from it...i can even dismiss what some people consider to be the "anti-semitism" of some of the lyrics...but i really could have done with the narration being in the liner notes instead of on the album...i know stuff's written in the lyric sheet, but i think it was overkill to put it on the album. anyway, i miss the days when he'd tuck extra lyrics or comments into the middle of the liner notes...

Any album that has any "talking" has too much talking, IMO.
Think of the interminable "skits" on rap albums. Does anything make one reach for the remote faster? If I wanted talking, I'd buy a spoken word. But I Just want songs. Speaking of which, TRC has some great ones, and minus the blah-blahing, which I always tune out or FF, it's a four-star album.

I think it's just a story arc to describe society ending under "Armageddon" or something, and everyone celebrating the new world under God's rule with the main character of TRC marrying his new woman. It's tongue in cheek, notice Prince giggling at the end, and take it as such. People take it way too seriously. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Of course there is too much talking/preaching. It ruins the album.
