My husband seems to think I am an obsessed fan. Every time I get some new Prince thing (music, video...) I listen to it or watch it a million times. It drives him crazy (not a Prince fan). Anyways, sometimes I think he is right. I just got Musicology last week for my b-day (june 8th), he bought it for me before my B-day to shut me up. I listened to it as soon as we got out of the store, in the truck all of the way home. Once we got home I put my CD headset on and jammed out to my favorite songs on the CD over & over. I love his voice and listening on your headset you can hear every detail. It is like he is whispering in your ear!!! Anyways, I take the CD everywhere I go and play it every moment possible. When I am not listening to it, I am singing it in my head. Am I obessed? I know this will pass as soon as I have heard every detail of the songs. Every guitar sound, every sound that comes from his mouth... I cannot explain it. Can anyone else relate?
Shanti

Yep, sounds 100% familiar. With one minor difference. My husband thinks my obsession is "cute" and has kidnapped Musicology for his car, so that's the only time I get to listen to it when he drives me somewhere. Which is OK, so I don't overload all at one - like rationing.

I had a similar experience on the underground in London on my way from from work. This guy opposite was listening to his walkman and when the train stopped I could make out the bass line of "I Would Die For You". I was grinning at him like a maniac as you so rarely hear people listening to old-school P on their headphones.

I'm not sure he got me though as he got off at the next station looking slightly scared.

That guy was probably me... lol

Is obsession healthy?
Does it interfere with your relationships?
I see a lot of justifications and rationalizations of obsession on this post.

I was watching Saturday Night Live at about midnight yesterday, and I heard something. I knew it, but I couldn't put my finger on what it was or were it was coming from. A minute later I figured out it was 'Money don't matter 2nite' coming from the apartment below mine. I dived headfirst off the bed (hurting my shoulder) and put my ear against the floor until it was over. lol That's when you should start worrying. I think you just have good taste in music, nothing wrong with that, enjoy it. wink

Read your post upon awakening early this Sunday morning - and you've got me laughing ! lol Yes - I remember once hearing a Prince Song in Home Hardware or something - unusual for a little town in Canada - and I was sooooo stoked - I felt like shaking everyone in there by the shoulders - LISTEN - IT'S PRINCE - ITS PRINCE !! In Home Hardware - - - but they all obviously went about their business . . .

Are we all missing the fact that she waited till June 8th to get the darn CD,
and even then, it was bought for her?

I say NO...you've got a LONG WAY to go!

That does not mean that I had not found other ways to hear the songs on the CD. I am currently out of work so I had to let my husband buy it for me. Trust me, if I had the $ I would have bought it the day it came out. I have almost every other album, CD and single of his. My obsession is not with buying things, it is with listening, dreaming, lusting, worshiping, taping, watching, drooling... over the man! I cannot stop but I guess he has that spell over others too. Gotta go listen!

The question is is it better 2 b with someone who is or isn`t a fan??.I put Prince on hold as it did get between me and my partner and now i regret it...I`m happy 2 say i`m back to where i was 3 years ago, everything purple again. But i now question if a "fan" can really b with a non fan??

How would it b 2 lay with someone to the sounds of "call my name " , Adore or even Feel u up ??? Only in my wildest dreams ???
