Help, Am I an obsessed fan? My husband seems to think I am an obsessed fan. Every time I get some new Prince thing (music, video...) I listen to it or watch it a million times. It drives him crazy (not a Prince fan). Anyways, sometimes I think he is right. I just got Musicology last week for my b-day (june 8th), he bought it for me before my B-day to shut me up. I listened to it as soon as we got out of the store, in the truck all of the way home. Once we got home I put my CD headset on and jammed out to my favorite songs on the CD over & over. I love his voice and listening on your headset you can hear every detail. It is like he is whispering in your ear!!! Anyways, I take the CD everywhere I go and play it every moment possible. When I am not listening to it, I am singing it in my head. Am I obessed? I know this will pass as soon as I have heard every detail of the songs. Every guitar sound, every sound that comes from his mouth... I cannot explain it. Can anyone else relate?

Shanti Sounds like you're a fan to me, as well as a admirer of good music, and there's nothing wrong with that. Based on your story alot of us are obsessed, including myself. Hang around here enough and you will run into some truely 'obesessed fans' keep your eyes open You'll see Blue

I was watching Saturday Night Live at about midnight yesterday, and I heard something. I knew it, but I couldn't put my finger on what it was or were it was coming from. A minute later I figured out it was 'Money don't matter 2nite' coming from the apartment below mine. I dived headfirst off the bed (hurting my shoulder) and put my ear against the floor until it was over. That's when you should start worrying. I think you just have good taste in music, nothing wrong with that, enjoy it.

Part of it is that you are married to a non-fan. To him, it's gonna look like obsession. So far you've done nothing unhealthy. Listening to music by the boy over and over again...it's good music and it has a captivating factor that requires one to listen over and over. nothing wrong with that.
It's also a time in which Prince is all over the place...I think this may be the reason for at least my "obsessive" behavior. Buying new music, watching an interview, going to a concert, and picking up a periodical. Well let's see...in the past 6 months, he has been on TV more than 5 times at least...3 of those were history makers. Um...lots of magazines. 3 full albums worth of material, 5 concerts in my city...he's not making it any easier. Now if Prince or his music comes before important things like your marriage, family, health, well being, or if it is ALL you can think about (to the point of serious distraction)...or you are spending all of your money and free time on Princely things...then I'd say you have a problem. One needs to remember it's just one guy and his music...the only person this should be an obsession end all be all is Prince. Christian Zombie Vampires

The other day I was having lunch with my mom and a friend of mine, and they played Prince (batman). It was all I could do to stay in my seat and continue having a conversation. My legs were going under the table but I do not think anyone at the table noticed. Then later that afternoon while driving home I heard "1999" on the radio. I could let loose then, the people beside me were staring but who cares. It is nice to chat with others that feel the same as I do towards Prince and his music. Thanks- PEACE! Shanti

Well I guess that I'm lucky that my husbaand and I both obsessed. I was a fan before seeing him in Champaign IL in April, But after seeing him on the guitar, I fell hard and I listen to his music over and over all day long as my job requires a ton of driving. I tell my clients before they get in my car that if they do not want to hear Prince, they can bring their own headphones. When I have house guests, I tell them that they will be listening to Prince while they are visiting. I have seen him twice, once here at Paisley Park and in IL and as an impulsive move I bought my husband and I tics for the Mpls concert for my husband's bithday which is on June 17th (just 10 days after Prince's). We love Price and we especially enjoy his sensual side and it helps our relationship as well. I know that I am obsessed, but I don't give a damn. U want me to swivel in your love seat, don't
u baby. | |

When it comes to the obsessed, welcome to the club. Don't feel bad because others aren't where you are. It's too cool to be a Prince fan today! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

...you’re not alone, MANY times over I've played MUSICOLOGY...on my walkman, when I get home from work, when I awake, just today, I had to hear ‘Call My Name’…anyway, I just couldn't stop playing it since moment it hit my player, that's all I wanted to hear & the only music running through mind...then I thought I just couldn't play it anymore, that I had played it so much, & then here I go again playing it all over again... ...YUP!!!!! Are we all missing the fact that she waited till June 8th to get the darn CD,
and even then, it was bought for her? I say NO...you've got a LONG WAY to go! Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I am currently out of work so I had to let my husband buy it for me. Trust me, if I had the $ I would have bought it the day it came out. I have almost every other album, CD and single of his. My obsession is not with buying things, it is with listening, dreaming, lusting, worshiping, taping, watching, drooling... over the man! I cannot stop but I guess he has that spell over others too. Aren't we all pretty much obsessed fans? Isn't that why we're here right now? The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Hey, as long as you aren't trying to move to Toronto and attend service at the local Kingdom Hall specifically to befriend Mani, all the while plotting her "accidental" untimely death knowing that Prince will need you to lean on during his bereavement and will eventually make you his replacement wife, I think you are okay.

This guy opposite was listening to his walkman and when the train stopped I could make out the bass line of "I Would Die For You". I was grinning at him like a maniac as you so rarely hear people listening to old-school P on their headphones. I'm not sure he got me though as he got off at the next station looking slightly scared.
