Stuff I bought on Vinyl I didn't know was out there

I went vinyl record shopping this past w/e and found a few things that I hadn't seen before...

Sister Fate 12" w/save the people. I had no idea this was released. the B side is killer too.

Hold Me 12" w/ The World is high. I don't hear her on the song but it's a b-side. Sorta good. This was the pre-release for her self-titled 3rd album. Never heard it. Didn't know it was released.

Madhouse 8. I know this one. Don't know how rare it is on vinyl.

ANd for kicks...I picked up Pandemonium for a dollar, Mountains for 4 (that is a great 12"), and the elusive Shelia E self titled for 4 as well (can't find that sucker on CD to save my life).

Quick ?...did Prince produce Shelia E's 3rd album? He's not listed anywhere...and wasn't Cat on it too? She was in the video.

Any info on this is cool.

Thanks

I would assume he did... and any song listed as copyright to Girlsongs is Prince penned, as well.

As far as Cat goes... IIRC, she was in the Koo Koo video? I believe she was but it's Boni Boyer listed on background vox.

Production credits are given to Sheila and David Z (Rivkin), although the album was produced by Prince and Rivkin.

The songs, "Boy's Club', 'Koo Koo'. 'Love On A Blue Train', 'One Day (I'm Gonna Make You Mone', and 'Pride And the Passion' credited as Sheila's compositions ate written by Prince. On these tracks, aside from the musical credits in the liner notes, it is Prince playing.

I'm unaware of any musical contribution by Cat.

Did Prince not direct the video for Koo Koo? I seem to remember Donnie Simpson say this back when Prince got tons of play on BET.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I knew prince had some sort of involvement. It just sounds like it. And I have a opy of the Pride and the Passion somewhere done as an outtake.

I find the Shelia E album very uneven. Mixture of bad 80's rock/synth/cheese and then that goes into the wierd...like Koo Koo.

Would love to find Koo Koo on vinyl...the B-Side Paradise Gardens is on it.

Some good finds there, I'm a big, big fan of the Paisley Park acts, especially Sheila E. - her albums, esp. Romance 1600 are some of my very, very favourite Prince records.

Her 3rd album, I think, the better half is the non-Prince music. I like it all, but I find Love On A Blue Train to be a flat sometimes, missing oomph. Took a looooong time to get into Koo Koo, I used to hate it, now it's one of my fav's.

Dunno how they kept Pat Benatar from suing their ass over Faded Photographs though! lol

WIsh there was a comp that put all of the good Paisley artists/songs in one place.

I love Shelia...she too, is my favorite protege. I think I liked her before I liked Prince. lol I think she got the best "cast-off" songs. Though I am sort of the opposite...the more Princey stuff like koo-koo and toybox I gravitate to and the pop/synth takes more time. And the ballads of any of these gals/guys I never seem to get into.

I'll never forget the Koo-Koo video. Only saw it once, but for some reason it sticks in my mind. It was a strange video but colorful.
