The absolute PRECISE WORST MOMENT to the second would probably be when I screened my living-room debut of the Rave 2000 DVD to some casual Prince fans (whom I converted).
He sang Gett Off, and I heard him say "23 Scriptures and a one night stand." I just about fell out of my chair. This was highlighted by future moments, like when he sang "The Christ", and that whole lyric change in Purple Rain. It wasn't so much that I had anything against his religious conversion or the lyrics he chose, I just felt he tampered with things best not tampered with, and in front of others who were dangerously on the edge between liking/disliking Prince, I felt like it was scaring them away for good. This relates pretty much to what everyone else said, Larry Graham, and altered lyrics. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. If we crave some cosmic purpose, then let us find ourselves a worthy goal" - Carl Sagan

That is just not right. I always thought a song was an expression of how you're feeling at that specific time in your life. I have no problem with that. Prince has always changed the lyrics at live performances; it's just an expression of creativity for me I guess and there it is

My worst moment with Mr Nelson was no doubt waiting till 4 in the morning for the MF aftershow to start. The second worst moment was realizing the show wasn't worth waiting for.... oh well and there it is

The worst Prince moment was when he changed his name to an unprounouncable symbol in 1993.That was the beginning of "the dark years" and it was hard to be a fan back then.It got to the point where he was seemingly trying to destroy his own career.....writing "1958-1993" on the 'Come' CD cover....vowing to give Warners old stuff from the vaults to fulfill his contract...wasting every interview to bitch about how "evil" Warners was....releasing less-than-brilliant albums like 'Come' and 'Chaos And Disorder'.
that was a rough time | |

Hearing "Musicology" for the first time, on the Tavis Smiley show. I thought "My God, he'll never get anywhere with this one."
Naturally, it grew on me.

I love his songs, but I hate it when he changes the lyrics or preaches. One time, that really sits out in my mind, is when he sang the "Cross" and made that sermon regarding the word 'stauros' at the beginning of the song. I felt like I was being preached to. You were....

Im hearing a lot of graffiti Bridge's as the worst moment, in fact id say that was winning hands down. Ive never seen it, sadly, is it really that bad. The soundtrack is quite good.

Maybe a bit spoiled or arrogant but I actually left early at the first of the two Paradiso aftershows in 95. The music just didn't appeal to me anymore. The appeal never came back untill I witnessed the ONA concert in Rotterdam, 7 and a half years later.

Y DID HE DO THIS and WHEN DID HE START DOING THIS? I haven't seen him live so I dont know what you're talking about if thats what you mean but as anyone will tell you he has horns all over a lot of his albums. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

well i saw ONA over the weekend and it seemed like every 10 mins he would give the stage to horn solo....and like on the RRHF perormances and the Leno performance..seems like the horns dominate...but when i see old footage of prince (controversy video, sexuality video, 1999 video....no horns) maybe it started in the late 80's Positivity YES

that was a rough time I'm with u on that, those were dark years and a lot of the stuff he released sucked! I didn't realize it back then but it was a classic case of misery loves company! Prince was miserable and it made being a fan a miserable thing too. I suffered through a lot of things for instance chaos and disorder. I just think if he had been happier through those years we wouldn't have so many disagreeable orgers on this site now, (then again we probably would). But hey after the rain, comes the rainbow and I am just happy if he's happy!

P's been using horns in his work (live and studio) since about the mid-eighties...Parade tour would probably be the first time they were particularly dominant. I can't think of what the first Prince song to include actual horns was though. ...possibly the extended version of I Would Die 4 U, or The Ladder maybe.

The American Music Awards when his shawl knocked his mic over unbeknownst to him. When he turned around to begin singing, the mic was on the floor. He quickly reached down to grab it, and wound up busting himself in the mouth with it. It made him look so "not ready for prime time".
