By NEKESA MUMBI MOODY, AP Music Writer Despite the wealth of hits Prince sings on tour each night, he knows there are some fans who want to hear the raunchy ditties of his past — tunes that the devout Jehovah's Witness will no longer sing. "I encounter some people you would not believe," Prince told The Associated Press in a recent interview. "They're like, 'You're not going to play "Erotic City" no more? ... Well, I liked you better back then.'" There are thousands more who feel differently. Prince has been selling out venues across the country on his "Musicology" tour, his first arena tour in six years. It comes as the newly inducted member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame enjoys a resurgence in popularity after years out of the mainstream pop scene. The superstar, who has released his music primarily on his own for about a decade, released "Musicology" in conjunction with Sony Records, and it's already gone gold. The typically media-shy Prince has also been more visible this year, appearing on the Grammy telecast, magazine covers, and even the Ellen DeGeneres (news) daytime talk show. Prince has no opening act, and his tour last for more than two hours. He varies the songs he sings depending on his mood. Sometimes he does an acoustic version of "Little Red Corvette"; the next night it could be "I Wanna Be Your Lover." For saxophonist Candy Dulfer, who's on tour with Prince, every night is a thrill. "He only gets better. I'm glad that Prince is in that phase of his life that he wants to do this." ___ June 2: San Jose, Calif.
