Besides I think soul music blew in the early 80's so if black people tend to lean towards soul music then Prince was really the only cutting edge thing out there at the time.

Well, since Prince is, himself, the result of a bi-racial union, it would make sense that his audience (fan base) be the same to me. Good music does not discriminate against age, race, sex, or religion. It is a part of one's soul, and that's colorless, ageless, asexual, and believes that only one God is needed to control life. My soul says Prince could be purple with blue spots, but that man can still make an audience stand up and feel the funk, no matter what race they may be. Nothing else should matter.
