What's the deal with the Undertaker video?

What was the purpose of this and why did Prince never release this video? And what the hell was with that strange ass story with that girl overdosing on pills, and for that matter who was that girl?

Am I correct in saying the video was only released in the UK? As far as I know North American markets only had access to a laserdisc. I have a really poorly dubbed version of the Undertaker video that I purchased (was tricked into believing it was real), with more hissing on the audio track than sound. After the bad purchase somebody told me there were no North American videos of the Undertaker.

Prince did release this video (in the UK at least) he wanted to release the soundtrack to a guitar specialist magazine to say 'Hey! I'm a good guitarist by the way' Warners wouldn't let him do it though and this was part of the whole slave/WB problem. Test pressings of The Undertaker soundtrack exist and are highly prized among collectors, they fetch upwards of £200.

I have the mega rare test pressing in-house cd promo.

it was released on VHS in UK and laserdisc and NTSC format in US and Japan and Video-CD in Asia.

Now available as unofficial DVD too.

Dunno it was a weird time all round. As well as The Undertaker Prince also released The Sacrifice Of Victor a (heavily edited) video of the infamous Bagleys Warehouse aftershow from the European Act 2 tour. Tickets for the show were openly sold to people far back in the queue and the crowd far exided fire regulations. Note Tony M's comment 'It's hot in this motherfucker 2nite!'

It is pretty crap really! Would of way preferrred the Cd versions! It's dull to watch!

"Sacrifice of victior" video is quite cool! Wish he released the tours to Dand P or the act 1 or 2 tours instead though! Very fun, particually the Gameboyz and Prince doing their rather odd moves together (see "Comercial" or "2 whom it may concern" on Launch.com 4 explanation)! And damn the song itself, that was very weird!

Tony m bit is the best part right?

wasn't this the last time Tony and the original NPG played together, what happened to the original NPG anyway?

damn Vanessa in the above pic looks like either Diamond or Pearl or both don't ya think? Very fine....

I've had this VHS version for a while now. I bought it off someone on Ebay (only because it was Prince). However, I thought it really wacked out or something. It wasn't until 1/2 a Prozac and some Colt 45 did I get it, lol.
