it's an obvious appeal to r&b/urban radio. It's obvious, by both singles, he's not going for rock top 40 radio at all, if he was, he'd have chosen a million days or even my dreaded least fav cinnamon girl. To be honest, he's kinda caught between a rock and a hard place, the youth oriented rock radio won't really embrace P, the only hope he has radio wise is by releasing call my name in an R&B, adult contemporary way. illusion is the standout track to me, but who would play it? Call my name is the safer choice.

As usual, the Americans are only looking at it from an American view.

Sure it will do well on the radio in a country where you split and categorise everything and RnB clogs up the charts.

But Prince is making a BIG mistake if he releases this globally. He needs a pop number to maintain the mainstream interest he is currently getting.

Call my name will sink in places like the UK, especially if it doesn't even get a proper release.

Not a good move if you want the album riding high as you embark on a world tour.

Call my name will bomb in the UK. I think that he should release ICP&C - it's funky as hell, could be played in clubs and it sounds like nothing else on the radio (apart from Missy/Timberland stuff)

Yep, there is a radio edit that cuts out the verse with "stop the war etc" on it.

Ahh man that's my favourite part!!! sad

Well the bit where he goes "they can bug my phone...people round my home... they'll only see you and me making love inside!!" smile

Hmm, well, I was going to say easy on the generalizations, but you just confirmed one of my own: England's R&B intolerance.

I knew it and contrary to all the negative thinkers, its gonna so well. One thing we must remember, Adore was never a single it just got a lotta radio airplay. Radio has already taken a liking to this one so I can only imagine what will happen with it.

Call My Name is asking to be a hit. I have played this song for a few people and they all like it. Some of them are not even fans. This song will be a hit.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It's easily meast favorite song on the album, but probably the best choice for a single.
I would rather see ICPC in the best of all possible worlds.

Now if the Kid just releases ICPC as the 3rd single I'll be in heaven.

Can't see it having much impact in the UK (if it's gonna be a single over here).

I don't think the media/gen. public (who singles are for) look to Prince for syrupy ballads.

Sorry I don't follow your point, have you looked at the UK chart recently, Usher number one, Eamon, not to mention Beyonce etc. The UK not urban friendly?? I don't like those particular records but their success surely contradicts your point. eek

All of you should imagine an alternate reality where Prince decided to release Life 'O' the Party as the next single.

That'd make all of you appreciate CMN as the next single a little more.
lol

Another soon-to-be classic Prince track like Adore!!

I CONCUR...."CALL MY NAME" will soon equate to "ADORE" status

I'll bet any amount of money.

...I thought Mani was mad at Prince for not making a song for her like 'ADORE', and I do like 'Call my name' very much!wink

When I first heard 'Adore', it was total BLISS...but for 'Call my name'...the very first time I was sitting like this...neutral...but after a couple of listens, it is a very NICE song. After a while you wanna hear it a couple of more times...

im right wiv ya call my names a bad choice 4 the uk market, much better with I.C.P&C which stands a good chance of getting mainstream airplay..

everybody has their own fav,s but IMO illusion, coma, pimp & circumstance and what do u want me 2 do? are the best 2 tracks by an absolute mile! razz

I NEVER thought they would be playing Prince but they were playing that song so maybe it will hit hard on the charts! cool

I think CMN is a good choice for a single. It's not my favorite song, but I do like it a lot. I guess b/c I'm not in love with anybody at the moment. Musicology was a good and obvious choice for a single, but now it's time to get into the music for real. It (CMN) will be a chart-topper b/c people will say it's "Old Prince"/Adore la la la. My favorite songs on the CD are A Million Days and What do u want me 2 do-that song is so sick!! I hope it doesn't become a single cause I don't want to share it. Kind of like Maroon 5's Songs About Jane. I had the thing for like a year and all of a sudden it's the fire. However, I love when people find great music!

Love Ya'll
