Maybe if we all don't just rush to download it, (although you know d*mn well some of us will) the price will drop. Cause now that I think of it, maybe I shouldn't spend almost 10 dollars on 3 songs.

I love Prince, but there ain't no way I'm paying $8 for an 11 minute video clip. I'll pay $30 for an entire show maybe, but I don't want some little edited clip. But I'm sure many of you will pay for it and encourage him to release more edited stuff like this.

On the other hand he gave the musicology CD for free to all the concert attendees. something pretty inovative ...

Yes it was innovative, but remember that we didn't get it for free. The price of the CD was included in the ticket price.

$7.77 for 11 min of video seems like a rip to me..... real classic songs for that price to eh.... I will wait for the DVD for $20 and get an hour or more

Nobody has said officially there is going to be a DVD. When people say stuff like that, it makes other people think they've missed something - queue lots of "There's a DVD? When does it come out? How much will it cost? What tracks are on it" etc etc

For all we know, you might be waiting forever for a DVD that never comes, and you'll have missed the opportunity to download this clip!

Maybe there will be a DVD, maybe not, you never know with Prince - he's done lots of concerts that were clearly filmed but were never released commercially.

$7.77 does seem steep by a few dollars - if he released every song as a video for download from the concerts at this price, it would cumulatively cost a fortune! But as with any purchase of any item, if you think it is too much for what you are getting, don't buy it. Nobody is putting a gun to your head.

I agree - fams on NPGMC were chatting back and forth about a DVD coming out and I just read a post by PP9 on one of the NPGMC forums that there has been no "official word" of a DVD release for this tour.....

That's really cool that he's putting it up for download, but for that much money I wanna see the whole damn concert as a video.

I feel sorry for the die-hard fans who may not have seen the show and will therefore feel compelled to spend the $8 just to catch a glimpse of the show. Fans can think whatever they want, but $8 is definately price gouging in my book for an 11 minute clip.

Don't believe me, let's do the math.

- $75 (without tax and fees) will buy you the best seat in the house for the Musicology tour. That's live, in-person, and up-close.
- Each concert lasted between 135mins and 165mins. Using and average concert time of 2hrs 30minutes you could say each concert lasted 150mins.
- $75 divided by 150 = $0.50 per minute

At a rate of 50 cents per minute, an 11 minute download should never cost more than
$5.50 which is how much you would've paid to see Prince in person! So does that mean we should all pay $75 for an entire DVD??? Of course not!!! So why in the world should I pay $8, which is priced even higher for an 11 minute DOWNLOAD clip???!!! In my book, that's price gouging.

Take my argument or leave it. But having seen the show in person, there is no way I will give Prince 8 U.S. dollars for an 11 minute clip.

Just as a comparison-- Metallica is selling live audio recordings of their recent shows via download- 2 cds worth w/ free artwork for $10-$13. W/ in 48 hours of the gig!!!

I'm not a particularly big Metallica fan and did not go to this show, but I GUARANDAMNTEE you if Prince did this I would buy every show I was at!!!

The $7.77 11 min vid is starting to look a little pricey to me... sad

it does seem like a lot of money 4 so little but , from another angle if the clip becomes yours to do with and watch whenever you like and copy and stuff, then thats fair enough, otherwise he can forget it. does anyone know the ins and outs of downloads from npgmc? or will it explode your pc after you watch it 4 times..... crash blowup

Yeah, but you're not including the plane flight from the Uk and hotel costs and the cab fare it would cost me to go see the show live! That might push the price up... !

Funny though, that some people are happy to buy bootleg concert videos for £20 or upwards that are poorly shot from a single camera swinging about all over the place with poor sound quality - yet are unwilling to pay £5 for 11 minutes of good quality footage and sound...

I think we should all email the club this link and show what others are doing. $7.77 is way too much for an 11 minutes clip. The trouble is, I just know that I'm gonna break and have to download.

Help me be strong.

This is another one of those Prince situations where I feel a bunch of stuff. First up, if people think the clip is overpriced, don't buy it.

For those who think we are gonna buy it anyway, sorry. Not me. I didn't buy the DVD or N.E.W.S. I was given a choice to get previews and I didn't like what I heard or saw so I didn't buy. It's really that simple.

For the people who don't get a concert, it might be cool for them to get to see some of what we saw.

Hopefully the whole Staples show will get released on DVD and I'd gladly pay for it.

Come on people!

They already admitted they are using club members as lab rats, don't all go running off to buy a 11 min clip for the price of an album!

They are seeing how far they can push it! Just look at the hype in the email. Do club members really need to be told that Prince is great?

They are trying a hard sell, nothing more. Of course it will end up on a DVD. They always do. Notice no mention of exclusivity.

Even if it doesn't, it will be left up for sale for a long time (Look how they are re-selling everything at the moment). Then it will be on bootlegs before we know it.

Want to send a price message to NPGMC in a language they understand?

Start passing it around for free to other club members. IF they even give us a half decent file format we can get on wih.

Seriously, 7.77 is bullshit. You can buy full concert DVDs for twice that these days. They can kiss my ass on this one.
