P's most slept on album...... I know a while back there was a thread on this and I found it but it was locked so I couldn't
comment but I decided i'd give mine anyway. I think that The Gold Experience, The Symbol Album and Emancipation all were slept on far more than they should've been. Seems like the music was better or the songs were better than they were received. Forgive me for reviving this thread but I did want to give my thoughts on it. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

Forgive me for reviving this thread but I did want to give my thoughts on it. it depends on what else is around or big at the time! I "Emancipation" could not be reviewed or digested properly in less than a couple of weeks in my book! Also the production wasn't very 'trendy' at the time (in other words, not may snorathon D angleo/fugees mellow shit) "Symbol" was grundge year "The gold experience", mags and Papers wanted to see it fail or be unpopular 'cause of the "Slave" shit etc...! No fanfare, despite good reviews! I wish P did some Newjack music like virtually everyone else bloody did! Only some have newJack elements to 'em! Like "Push","My name is Prince" and parts of "Grafitti bridge"! I guess "Lemon crush" too really!

Chaos and Disorder was really good. IMO It would have been awesome if it just wasn't for that silly " I Rock, Therefore I Am" and "Dig U Better Dead". CALL ME A DREAMER 2!

I agree... and I really like this disc these days. It was kind of a sleeper for me when I first got it but I was listening to it again recently and it's held up extremely well. Is it true that a WB employee said he felt like this album was garbage, that Prince was purposefully handing them garbage? lol

It's not that it's slept on but in my humble ass opinion I think all the attention that’s directed toward TGE and TRC should be redirected to the BLACK ALBUM. The BLACK ALBUM is the rawest and dirtiest funk that Prince has given us folks. ego tripping out

hmm....P's most slept on album?
i think it would have to be between the batman soundtrack and the gold experience both of which i like.[quote]JUST PUT UR NAME ON THIS PRE-NUP AND WE CAN ALL HIT THE DISCO!"

Any album between Batman and Musicology minus Diamonds & Pearls.
If Columbia was not working to get another deal w/Prince and vice versa, this album would langush .The marketing by both Prince and Columbia has been amazing and unexpected. If Clive Davis had not been a victim of a coup at Arista the result would have been Musicology. Now before the flaming starts,Musicology is better than Rave by a longshot but it's all in the promotion. If the record company wants you to have a hit record you will have one .No matter how good or bad the music is.

The Rainbow Children
Nobody except the people on this site have even heard of it. The Black Album has reached legendary status Prince has two hits I wanne Be... and Why you Wanna... (not to mention I Feel For You) Gold has The Most Beautiful Girl and Gold Exodus isn't really a Prince Album IMO The Vault isn't really an album, but a collection of random songs. Check this song out at:

The Gold Experience was very slept on. The Most Beautiful Girl In The World single that got played everywhere was from The Beautiful Experience EP. The version on the Gold Experience is a re-recording that was released over a year and a half later. Any momentum that the album could have received from the single's success was long gone. Also, the "Gold" single was a major flop (#88) which contributed to the album's quick demise. The Gold Experience is easily one of Prince's top five best albums, but the casual fan doesn't even remember it. The fact that it's out of print doesn't help.

Come - I actually think this is one of Prince's most adventurous albums, and it also greatly benefits from being relatively concise. Graffiti Bridge, D&P and Symbol were all lengthy albums that were loaded with filler. It was quite a relief to get a relatively succinct album - seven or eight quality tracks that weren't surrounded by six or seven mediocre ones. Of course, you did have to suffer through "solo" and "orgasm"...
