This seems horribly incomplete....

Yeah.. it seems I couldn't find anything on the charts for the other singles post 1992 - I can't believe The One, Dinner with Delores, Holy River & Betcha By Golly Wow didn't hit the 100 USPop Charts because they sure were briefly playing them in Europe.

You're missing a lot before, too... Thieves In The Temple, Get Off, D&P, Insatiable, Money Don't Matter 2Night, My Name Is Prince, 7, Damn U, etc... I'm fairly certain all those hit the top 100.

If he dents the top ten by accident it surely ain't with a hit the world will remember
Cream & 7 Were his last real hits.

what are you talking about, TMBGITW was arguably his biggest hit ever. It spent 6 months on the charts

The last big hits that Prince had that lasted on the US Pop Charts for a few weeks instead of "spiking" were Batdance -TMBGITW - Cream due to the intense power of a good music video to do the promo. The power of the video is amazing. If your video gets boring fast, so will the single. Plus you forgot Lovesign spiked at 72, Insatiable spiked at 77
Holy River spiked at 58 and Money Don't Matter peaked at 22

it now has 294 urban spins (+219) - that's good enough for #59 urban. The spin count needs to double to get top 40, and double again to get top 20. The #10 song has 2076 spins right now, the #1 song has 3732 spins. So it still has a ways to go, but is gaining momentum quickly. From 231 to 294 spins in 24 hours.

A day later and it's 349 urban spins (+276 vs 87 a week ago) and now has 53 of the 70 stations, on Urban AC, it's a +77 and is now on 16 of the 42 stations

anyone in Ft. Myers needs to request Call My Name at WXKB-FM - this is the only CHR/Pop station that has added it - give it lots of requests and maybe others will join in.

Also, add these links to the ones on the first page to check for stations to call

So is it doing generally well so far for a new song? I mean, is it doing better than Musicology?

It seems to be doing better on the Urban stations than Musicology did, Musicology did quite well on the Urban AC stations (it's still in the top 10 there), it's too early to tell just how well it'll do, but calling in requests are sure to help. Urban stations are a bigger market by far than Urban AC, and the two combine I think to make the billboard R&B chart.

Dig. I also have to say this here in Atlanta Hot 107.9 is playing 'Call My Name' this is major because they never have since they started in the late 90's have played a Prince track. I about passed out when I heard it on the radio today. I think 'CMN' should be the next single and video for this album because I think it will re-ignite sales. Yeah for Prince and this whole wonderfull album. He deserves all the love that he is getting.

Now that they are playing it, call them and let them know you want to hear it more. It's a snowball effect you're after - get it played enough that others will hear it and request it. Make sure they know that there are lots of Prince fans in Atlanta. Make it a goal to get it played at least once by every DJ all day.

another big surge - a day later it's 440 urban spins (+311 vs 129 a week ago) on 55 stations. Urban AC is now +114 on 17 stations. It's surprising there aren't more urban AC stations playing it since Musicology is still on the top 10 on those stations.

I can guarentee that will be 441 spins as I am now listening to Call My Name on the radio as I type this. WIZF in Cincinnati plays it at the exact same time every mornng about 10:45am. The female DJ always gives it extreme props after its played. This is going Top 10 Urban for sure

>>It's surprising there aren't more urban AC stations playing it<<

Yeah , its wierd though. Check RadioandRecords.com on the UrbanAC chart they have Call My Name at #30 , yet list it as going for adds this week.

I wondered if they'd go for adds to get the number of urban AC stations up. This song is going to do far better than Musicology (I still don't understand why they didn't send that one to top 40 radio while the video was everywhere). Any word on a call my name video?

Call my name should get him a best male vocal grammy nomination too.

cool - I wonder how long it takes to get that edited and released to MTV/VH1/BET?

Also, it'd be interesting to know if Call My Name was planned to be a 2nd release, or if radio just started playing it and it snowballed. I noticed when the album came out, a few songs got played, and call my name started building airplay right away.

They probably had "Call My Name" in mind as the second single. It's the obvious choice for R&B radio. And so it's also the prime choice for pop, as far as the Hot 100 goes. I can't remember the last time a song made the R&B top 20 and didn't reach the Hot 100---probably back in the early 90s. R&B makes up a huge chunk of the Hot 100 radio panel nowadays, and most top 40 programmers make decisions based on songs doing well on R&B. If "Call My Name" makes the Urban top 10, which is entirely possible (and likely), Prince will have a guaranteed top 40 hit on the Hot 100. I think Janet's "I Want You" is the lowest charting pop hit (no.57) to reach the R&B top 20 in a few years.

Magazine covers, TV appearances, a sold-out tour, a top-selling album...the only thing missing in this 'comeback' is a genuine hit single. Get ready folks, 'cause here it comes....

Prince "Call My Name" (NPG/Columbia).

Let’s be honest, many of us thought or may still think of Prince as being a little left of center dating back to the time he changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol. Nowadays the artist many of us knew as one of the premiere talents in music has delivered an outstanding set of songs that is simply quintessential Prince. Many, especially younger programmers, will begin to understand how and why artists such as an Alicia Keys have been so inspired by this true musical genius. A Prince album is a musical journey, one that he hopes the public wants to experience, but you still need that one track that will pull people in. "Call My Name" could be that one. It’s a super sexy passionate track that should seduce your female core with ease! The Musicology CD along with his performance at this year’s Grammy Awards reminds me of just a few of the reasons why I started working in this business in the first place. Not that he ever really left, but the Prince we all know and love is back! BET ON IT!

Yes, I heard it on the radio myself. It was on WBLS here in New York. nod

That was a surprise to me considering that this was not even a single yet. But then again, when SOTT came out, they ran "Adore" to the ground as well, and wasn't a single either. Just goes to show how great Prince's ballads are.

#20 with 249 spins (+110 vs 139 a week ago) on Urban AC (where prince now has two songs in the top 20) on 22 stations and going for adds today

I heard this from a friend who's a total pop music nut. He was like, "What's that new Prince song I heard on KTU? Not the stupid James Brown one, the ballad?" He said it was the first P song he's liked since "Most Beautiful Girl" and thought it would be a huge hit.
