$7.77 for 11 min of video seems like a rip to me..... real classic songs for that price to eh.... I will wait for the DVD for $20 and get an hour or more

Why do they feel the need to constantly, repeatedly keep pointing out how "skilled", "talented" and how "real" of musicians the NPG are?

As far as the price for an 11 min. video I can only watch on my computer, no thanks. I'll wait for the DVD

Judging on the sound of the preview, they haven't really done post-production on the mix.
It has that raw 2-track 'One nite alone... live!' vibe to it.

I'd say this video should cost about twice the price of a 'normal' one (Reflection being the
only predecessor) because of its length. This is not worth $7,77 --- that's utterly ridiculous.

I don't know how they're configuring it with their DRM provider, but here's the test: If you can download the file and then *play it WHILE OFFLINE*, you can probably play it forever. If you must be ONLINE to play the clip (even just the first time), it's potentially not "yours" after that $7.77.

I'll hold out for the DVD, myself. Release the entire L.A. show as-is even, that would be fine... and definitely worth $20+.

For all we know, you might be waiting forever for a DVD that never comes, and you'll have missed the opportunity to download this clip!

Maybe there will be a DVD, maybe not, you never know with Prince - he's done lots of concerts that were clearly filmed but were never released commercially.

$7.77 does seem steep by a few dollars - if he released every song as a video for download from the concerts at this price, it would cumulatively cost a fortune! But as with any purchase of any item, if you think it is too much for what you are getting, don't buy it. Nobody is putting a gun to your head.

That line to me indicates that it will get released as a DVD. and for them to throw it online as a download is no different to NPGMC putting the Muicology CD online b4 releasing it to retail

I'm not saying that there won't eventually be a full concert video released (let's hope there is!) just that this email doesn't confirm it. Otherwise via chinese whispers we inevitably get "where's that live dvd he promised us back in May...?"

They already admitted they are using club members as lab rats, don't all go running off to buy a 11 min clip for the price of an album!

They are seeing how far they can push it! Just look at the hype in the email. Do club members really need to be told that Prince is great?

They are trying a hard sell, nothing more. Of course it will end up on a DVD. They always do. Notice no mention of exclusivity.

Even if it doesn't, it will be left up for sale for a long time (Look how they are re-selling everything at the moment). Then it will be on bootlegs before we know it.

Want to send a price message to NPGMC in a language they understand?

Start passing it around for free to other club members. IF they even give us a half decent file format we can get on wih.

Even though I can afford it out of principal I wont pay that amount for an 11 min video clip.

For 8 bucks I get entry into our local music clubs - and a live concert of people playing real instruments just in front of my eyes stil gets me a lot more excited than watching a video on my computer with my crap speakers - even if it comes from my musical hero...

So I rather spend my money on "real musicians" - I am sure Prince will understand...

IMO, The price is a 'lil steep for just 11 minutes of performance. I'd probably be more inclined to buy an audio download for $.77. However, "Samuella Nastolini" nor anyone else is forcing club members to purchase this. Since they use the downloads as test markets for future releases, you can choose to show your support with the hopes of seeing a Musicology DVD eventually or you choose not to pay 1/3 of the price of a DVD and receive an 11 minute performance. Things had been pretty quiet at the ol' bitching post for several weeks, I guess something had to break the streak.
