My favourite Prince TV appearance (until he starts talking, that is). And by the way: it was Mayte (not Carmen).

Ok my favorite is the Arsenio Hall Show gig aforementioned I love it at the end of Kiss when he just shakes his head as if to say "it's a shame i had to tear it up like that." I also like the end of Cream when he plays and teases the audience with his guitar pick. Yeah and Daddy Pop was on fire! I have many other favorites but this sticks out in my mind.

"Can I ask just one question....is it me, or is THAT BOY BAAAAD?" ~ Arsenio (2) Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

You know what sucks about this. Arsenio had a special on MTV or VH1 not too long ago. It was about all the amazing live music that came from the Arsenio show. I watched the special waiting for them to talk about Prince and how he did that amazing whole show. Well it never happened, they didn't mention Prince at all.

I totally agree with you about the Rock and Roll HOF! He was amazing! I actually think the highlight of that night was the "when my guitar gently weaps" solo

Has anyone mentioned the 87 VMAs when he tore the place up with Sign O The Times/Play in the Sunshine. That and the first Arsenio Hall appearance would have to be my two favorite. Funny noone prefers the second Arsenio appearance (I think Sinbad was Arsenio's date for that one) where he did "My Name is Prince", "Blue Light", etc.
Favorite Quote after a Prince live performance: "I told you it was funky like doo doo" (after Prince played "Gett Off" on 91 VMAs) All good things they say never last...

Dolphin- David Letterman Show. Loved the entire performance. The icing on the cake was when P fell out at the end of the performance. It was funny, cause Letterman came out after the performance to shake hands, congratulate yadda yadaa, and Prince was motionless on the floor the whole time. No acknowledgement what so ever. Classic.

What year was that? I love that Prince was aloof to Letterman - nothing irks Letterman more than a bizarre guest VOTE....EARLY

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned this yet...at least I don't think anyone has...
but the FUNNIEST Prince appearance on TV, and my personal favorite, is when he showed up to surprise Bryant Gumbel on his final Today Show appearance, and he was dressed in a traditional suit that he bought across the street and left the tags on...regular dress shoes...geeky glasses... and he was playing up the entire ACT! That was some funny you know what! I'll never forget it! Keith/Kacey

Prince was the only guest, but Arsenio had Patti LaBelle there as his "date". What a kick ass show!
patti had me crackin up, she kept callin prince "boyfriend"...too sweet. and the performance was cool, too. I remember that. And she was like: "He don't eat nothing! He need to eat!" LOL!!!!

' MY FAVOURITE PRINCE T.V. APPEARANCE', is when he played 'Dolphin' on 'The Letterman show' in around '94 ,or thereabouts. .
Letterman introduced , as The Artist Formerely known as Prince, and in a goofy manner, as Dave is inclined to do, held up a large cardboard cut out of the symbol. He continued, "He's here tonight to promote his latest album, 'The Gold Experience', which i'm told is never to be released".Another goofy look into the camera like 'well why's he here promoting the thing then'. Typical Letterman stuff. Prince was looking very cool, almost angelic, tremolo effect on his guitar creating a cloud like backdrop to his lyric; 'How beautiful do the words have 2 be,before they conquer every heart' .....Then bang he was off . In his renowned style Prince kicked into Dolphin with the poise of a panther on the prowl, all the moves, then into his solo ; head rolled back, cheeks sucked in, his shaped guitar , complimenting his every movement. A lesson in 'hittin 'the way within'.Mayte was doin' the swirling ribbon thing as he played, giving the whole thing a Olympic Gymnastics atmosphere. At the end Prince lay back and fell, AT THE LAST MOMENT BEING CAUGHT IN THE ARMS OF 2 MASSIVE BODYGUARD TYPES. Letterman got up of his chair saying to Paul shaffer,"is He o.k. Paul?" I'm in Australia & we don't see nothing much 'live t.v.performances' , so this was really special to me.Of course it wasn't Live as such,as the show was a delayed telecast ; But it was live to me! was blown, and still play my video rec. of it when i want 2 watch, something special. ~PClinuxOS~ I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ...
