Musicology Goes Gold Okay let the controversy begin (or continue). The sales on Hits Daily Double have come in and prince comes in at number 10 with 73,390. That gives him about 333-335,000 retail sales in three weeks and, by my estimate, about 505,000 in sales. First week was 192,000, second week 170,000, and third week will be about 143,000. With or without concert sales, these are impressive stats. Even without concert CDs, prince will have been in Billboard's Top 10 Albums for three straight weeks, which is a longer stay than he has had in years. Now if Sony can get "Call My Name" and "A Million Days" out...
The controversy I guess comes with the RIAA certification. I know the decision has been made to count the concert CDs but will there be any flack for certifying the project Gold when it has not sold 500,000 retail yet? All good things they say never last...

Perhaps they'll be some flack, but if the sales remain even somewhat consistent it'll be a short-lived controversy since it'll be a week or two at most before it sells 500K retail.
