PURITAN PRINCE?

PURITAN PRINCE? The artist formerly known as a sex god has certainly changed his lascivious ways since becoming a Jehovah's Witness a few years back.

"The culture is in big trouble," Prince tells Rolling Stone. "All you see on television are debased images. Whether you believe it or not, black people do not want to see pictures of people wearing bullet-proof vests. You saw the Super Bowl. I don't even need to say any more about it. And who produced that? That should tell you something right there."

It's a surprising attack on MTV, coming from the man responsible for such sexually explicit hits of the last century as "Darling Nikki," "Head" and "Gett Off."

Meanwhile, Prince has managed in his latest deal with Sony Music to retain full ownership of his hit album "Musicology." He tells the mag:

"When I meet with a label now, they already know they're not going to be owning anything. Maybe at one time they could get Little Richard for a new car and a bucket of chicken. We don't roll like that no more."
Check it out ...Shiny Toy Guns R gonna blowup VERY soon and bring melody back to music..you heard it here 1st! http://www.myspacecomment...theone.mp3

Oh dear. I'm disappointed that Prince has got his knickers in a twist over the Superbowl incident as well. What a load of bollocks about nothing.

Prince is a big contradiction. I doubt we'll see much of a change in the way he writes. He did enough cussing in the 90s for the 00s anyhow. And he still gets "naughty" at times on his new album Musicology; however, it's within the context of marriage. This also seems to justify the many threats on his new album of taking another man's woman and making her his own. The Rainbow Children (his most religious album) also had its "naughty" bits.

Prurient Prince or Puritan Prince? Still Prince.

edit: understand that the Super Bowl was during family viewing time and was something many of us watched with children in the room. It was not cool! We didn't expect it and we had no choice. Next year the kids won't be watching half-time.

No, Prince just wants to Show Positive Images of Hope to the Youth of Today. He's not about Fighting and Gun shooting and Raping and Killing and Drugs. Prince is into having Good Values and a Family and Religion. Prince is Right.Prince has High Standards and Moral Concerns. I Love him for being Consciencious and being Strong. It's a TURN-ON...

This too shall pass. He'll be back to his old self, hopefully, in not too long a time period from now.

I've been going to the meetings of Jehovah Witnesses and I must say that Prince definitely has the right to worship as he wishes. I'm actually proud that he still does what he wants to do. However, I think JW's really press issues way too far and Prince is definitely following their lead. The Superbowl was not such a big deal, except that an act like that has never taken place before. In Europe, this is a everyday stunt, so why are Americans so offended? It's because self-righteousness reigns.

I mean, Prince has done so much to push that envelope, as he's stated in many interviews, but why tell people now that they should stop. He and other performers showed others that it was okay to "push the envelope" so why stop them from trying to push it further than he did. Yes, it's something he used to do, but don't beat down others because they are still doing it.

I recently saw an older interview of Prince, where he stated that he's still doing well, after all he has the jewelry and the cane (glass cane) to prove he's doing fine. I mean, isn't that arrogance and he said it while sitting by his converter, Larry Graham. Now, if I'm wrong, isn't it a sin to incite anyone to jealousy. What a showy display of material gain!!! Why isn't he talking about that also?

I really get tired of the self-righteousness, even if it is coming from Prince!!! mad

So, maybe he's not as "Puritan" afterall.
Baby, Baby, Baby...what's it going 2 b?

i don't really see this as a JW issue. there are much more pressing matters than janet's boob in this world, are there not?

plenty of boobs to be seen around here, in the south of france; and yes, JWs do go to the beach. you get blasé pretty fast about stuff like that.

this is such an american issue, in general. but it's typical of this world. people just care about janet's boob & j.lo's breakups - to hell w/ the fact that the polar ice caps are melting, that bees are going extinct... neutral
