Who are the most unlikely Prince fans that you've come across?? Guys, I'm still reeling after my Christian Baptist pastor told me that he and his wife are big Prince fans. He talked about the movies and about Musicology, and is surprising his wife for Mother's Day with the album. I was floored!!! I couldn't believe it. My pastor is so cool, anyway. But here's a man who loves country music and grew up in a fundamendalist Baptist home in the Bible Belt. He is probably the most unlikely Prince fan to ever exist.
Anyway, anyone else come across people who you thought would never be P fans but actually did?? Share your thoughts...

My brother had an asthma attack when I was 16 and he had collapsed on my bedroom floor...
When the ambulance came, a paramedic saw my Prince posters on the wall. He started a lengthy conversation about the Black Album whilst my brother was turning blue on the floor.

A lot of people on this board seem like unlikely Prince fans...especially the youngsters....it's really cool to know that there are teenage fans of his music considering he is well past his heyday... [This message was edited Thu May 6 7:46:38 2004 by PurpleCharm]

After years of denial and resistance, my Dad [who relentlessly hated on P] finally admitted that he "likes" him. Why are people so afraid to admit that they actually dig P??? I've always wondered that. [My sister believes it's because if you admit that then you're a freak or you're gay or weird.]

I'm 31 and have been into Prince since the "1999" era, so that's the majority of my life...
about a year ago, I found out that one of my coworkers (I'm a high school English teacher) who's in her late 50s and an admitted "Jewish princess" was a HUUGE Prince fan when we had a department party at her house and she was playing "SOTT" on her stereo! She told me more than I ever wanted to know about how she and her husband have...um..."enjoyed" using Prince as a soundtrack over the years. HAHAHA!!!! Keith/Kacey

[This message was edited Thu May 6 7:46:38 2004 by PurpleCharm] I'm very proud to be a teenage Prince fan. I'm with you! (I'm only 15, and my mother had a conversation with a co-worker about me liking Prince. Her co-worker was amazed. This amuses me.)

My mother mentioned she'd read something about Prince in a newspaper, the other day. It really freaked me out hearing my mum talking about Prince. It was like she was trying to discuss sex with me.

Anyone else remember that cute old lady who was a member of 'Controversy'? I think she was from Ireland or Scotland, - she was like 95 or something! SO cool!

...Couldn't find the one I was after, but thought this was cute, and worth sharing:
GRANNY BEASY "My Granny is 82 years old (born 21st August 1907). Her name is Brigid McCarron but everyone calls her 'Beasy'. She has been living in the same house in Muff, County Donegal for 79 years. She doesn't look her age and is still very lively with a very active mind and great memory. She is quite familiar with prince's music as she is used to hearing it blaring from my stereo although she doesn't really like it (aren'y grannies wonderful! - EM). Her favourite Prince song though is 'The Cross' (the first half of it) and she also likes 'God' (Instrumental), 'Free' and 'Sometimes It Snows In April'. She has seen 'Under The Cherry Moon' almost as many times as me, and thinks it's a great story. Whenever I get a new issue, she alsways looks at the photos and comments on them saying things like: 'I like this one' or 'I dont like this one - he's too dangerous looking', or 'I like his suit in this one' She thinks some of the clothes he wears are 'daft' but, at the end of the day, she thinks that Prince is an ice-cool, red-hot sweet-talking humdinger of a guy! Breasy also likes Sheila E. and says that she's lovely looking and a very talented drummer" ~ Carl McCarron, Eire. HERE'S 2 U GRANNY BEASY U COOL, COOL CAT, WHEREVER U MAY NOW BE!!!

I am good friends with the daughter of a local MPLS evening newscaster. He is from WCCO NEWS and he was telling me how he likes Prince and, he was invited to and attended the Paisley PArk party/concert and got to see Miles Davis play. This party was around '87-'88- A New Year's party I believe. "New Power slide...."

Same story for me: my dad, who once broke my Purple Rain album into pieces because of evil messages, is now enjoying releases like the Vault, Crystal Ball, TRC. If you told me 20 years ago, I would have never believed it! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I think I am the most unlikely P fan a lot of folks have met. I always get the same reaction,..."Really?, I never would have guessed that." People who entered my room in college always had a bewildered look on their face when they saw the oversized Grateful Dead poster on one wall and the huge Sign O' the time movie poster on the other.

[This message was edited Thu May 6 7:46:38 2004 by PurpleCharm] I love Prince, I also love Sly & the Family Stone, James Brown, etc. And I'm 15. Yeah, you try fitting in as a high school sophomore in 2004 surrounded by Hilary Duff and 50 Cent fans. It's not fun.

(I'm 15 also) At least I converted a Hilary Duff(DAMN I hate her!!-Hilary Duff I mean) into a P fan! I burned her a copy of my Musicology CD and she really likes it. It sort of scares me. I also found out my English Teacher is pretty into Prince too. I even borrowed her Emancipation CD. I have lengthy conversations with her on Prince. And I have two friends who really like Princes Ass. They watched Purple Rain with me (again for me)
